my mom always said meat i buy were of low quality and expensive, thus i let her handle it lol. She would buy it from the wet market, i would just keep my mouth open.

minor boiling would cause excessive nutrient lost and the vegetable seems more tender and nice to be chew on. Tomato taste good no matter it's boiled or steamed. My mom said there are different nutrient when you cook it raw and when you cooked it.

I only steam my pop corn most of the day

Same as me, always after shower I will say this to myself. "Another day has passed, can't wait for tomorrow".

If you wanna lose weight, you need the drive and will power. And not only that, you need to do this forever. Otherwise, after 2 - 3 years, you will start eating crap again and become a fatty pom pom.

Weekdays = 100% clean food

Weekends = Cheat food

As long you maintain this diet plan, you will be healthy and thin.

The myth about stop working out for a week will make you gain weight, if you don't believe. Try not working out for 2 weeks. Like my body now, if I stopped working out for 2 weeks, sure become fatty afterthat. Imagine suddenly you kasi the body koyak to the max, then you stop koyaking.

charge-n-go : yes, you can use your rice pot for steaming.

http://lunchinabox.net/2008/02/27/rice-coo...one-trick-pony/ : This is a trick with carrots. Although for sweet potatoes, my Granny just cuts them into small pieces and puts them into the rice cooker without the coriander (the metal basket you see in the link). Of course, for both, put the veggie on top of the rice and after you put in enough water. The rice would taste nice. smile.gif

Another option is getting a steaming tray :

http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=e...start=0&ndsp=21

Although, with metal ones, have to be careful so as not to scratch the non-stick surface of your cooking pot. The high-end rice cookers from Japanese manufacturers may have already included a steaming tray. (http://importfood.com/ricecooker.html - scroll down the link).

If you want to make a simple healthy chicken rice meal : cut chicken into cubes. Throw in some chicken stock in the rice pot with the rice and water. Put the chicken on the steaming tray with some slices of spring onions. Done.

I'm currently checking out rice cookers with many functions because Granny not in the mood to share rice cookers. Haha! She says very mafan because she leaves uneaten rice in the cooker and just reheats it.

sky.live : I think my Granny loves flirting with the pork seller who is a young man always shirtless. He's very strong though when he does his pork cutting routing. With kungfu style too : feet braced apart and high swings with the cleaver. Haha! Cigarette dangling in the other hand too. Haha!

Hmm...not sure about the boiling bit being more tender and nice to chew on. The steaming seems fast atm. I have to do more washing up but I've more or less gotten used to it that I don't worry about washing anymore.

5-days week for me...sometimes 6...
i find that my legs muscle would be pretty tight if i workout everyday...so i think it is better to have rest days in between.

I have "koyak" so many times in the past from starts and stops. And each time stop, put on weight and it's a lot harder to get it off. Trying to go back to dieting was hard.

So now, I decided to change the way I eat food. Seems alrite so far. I never knew that eating so little with bento boxes was filling enough i.e. 80%.

But sometimes, just miss some of the cheat foods. Still doing food makeovers though. Wanna try and make a nice alphabet soup one day, just like the instant soup packet mix.

Tuna patties : put a little bit of cornflour. 1/4-1/2 teaspoon. Don't put too much. It should do the tricked. Or you could mix in some potatoes (cooked them first). But I think the cornflour should be able to do the trick.

Careful with apple cider vinegar. Don't put too much of it because it's pretty strong. I think it's class as an artificial vinegar. Have a check at it. I'm very wary of apple cider vinegar after my auntie got ulcers from it. Alternative is to look for the organic vinegars : these are usually brewed for a period of 2 years rather than a few days of artificial vinegar. The base is brown rice vinegar.

It's a bit too fatty, I think. It came out oilier than expected so I presume it's coming out from the cheese or the nuts.

200g peanuts (unsalted)
200g cashew nuts (unsalted)
2 slices of wholemeal bread
1 cup of low-fat cheddar cheese

For the above, I put them into a blender to get them all chopped. Then I mix them all up in a big bowl.

1 white onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 packet of golden mushroom (the original reciped called for button mushrooms but these were already in the fridge so used them instead), sliced into smaller sections

I stir fried the garlic and onion until soft with about 1 tsp of olive oil. Then added in the mushroom. Wait for it to cool.

1 egg, lightly beaten
some chives
some salt-free all-purpose herbs from McCormick
chopped ham from the bento shaps
chopped carrots from the bento shapes

I mix the above the other 2 parts above together. Became a thick paste. Then I put everything and press firmly into a 1 kg loaf tin and baked it in the oven for about 45 min at 180oC. Actually, think I put it in a bit longer because oven not so hot but the recipe calls for that long.

I have to change the recipe in future to add in more breadcrumbs, less peanuts, change to other peanuts, maybe use beans instead and use feta cheese or yogurt cheese instead. Also, probably put in more vegetables.

This type of dish is known as terrine. I cook it simply. There's another way that if the layers is too high, you need to put it into another dish with water and put the entire thing into the oven. There are also cold-type of terrines and also dessert/fruit ones too.

I don't know how you guise eat, but I iz are has no comment. But if I were to lose weight, I wouldn't be eating those stir fry, fry or even using olive oil. I know olive oil is good, but it is still oil. If you want to lose fat, you diet plan must be completely oil free. That's why I will not comment on what you guys put in the mouth, nothing to do with me.

The reason I can't lose all fat is because when I just started, my workout plan is fakap. If I follow a good workout program, I'm sure I lose most fats by now. My diet is good.

Mine was more of carbo intakes + lack of exercise. There was even a period where I used to go for aerobics 5x a week for 3 months and no weight loss, even with a "controlled diet". Later, realised it was hidden carbo everywhere.

It's not exactly wise to go completely oil-free but better to take vegetable fat. I was reading about Udo's oil and his theory was that even fish got their oils from plants so why don't we get it from plants to?

I hate eating boring food so trying out different food styles and food makeovers.

Don't think body type matters. I'm just a newbie anyway, get my knowledge from reading articles from experienced guys.

Thanks smile.gif

wow, a lot of exercise freaks here.

Actually, from my personal feeling and experience, doing light cardio less than 30 min in the morning do help. It must be light, not heavy. The advantage is, I feel more refreshed throughout the day.

Of course, short duration light cardio is never enough. I need to push myself a bit during lunch hour. That time can push a lot harder because I ate a lot during breakfast.

I plan to every day but in the end not every day.

Think 5x a week is good enough but even now can't even reach that. Used to do every day! Where's the motivation?

I did Shred on Friday (Day 8) but nothing over the weekend. Diet was quite bad on weekend too but no weight gain thankfully (yep i cheated and went on the Wii Fit)
