Safari

1. Go Straight to the Top
When viewing a long Web page, if you want to get back to the top, or access Safari's address field, you don't have to scroll all the way up; instead, just tap on the gray status bar at the top of the iPhone's screen. You'll be immediately transported to the top of the current Web page. (c_calvin)

2. Embedded links
When in Safari, holding your fingertip down on a link instead of tapping it produces an information balloon that displays the underlying URL.

3. Page Down function
When in Safari, double tap right below of the screen before the navigation bar and the page would scroll like a page down function.

4. Zoom and zoom out function
Double-tap a column on a webpage to expand the column. Double-tap again to zoom out. You can also pinch to zoom in or out manually.

5. Scroll in Boxes on a Web Page
If you encounter a scrolling box or list while surfing on your iPhone in Safari and you try to scroll with your finger, you'll find that the entire page scrolls, instead of just the box. The trick is to scroll such areas with two fingers.

6. Playing embedded Youtube clips
Your Safari now is able to play Youtube clips on fly just like how you browse website using your desktop PC. (mikelee)

7. Add Web Clips
Add web clips to the Home screen for fast access to your favorite webpages. Web clips appear as icons on the Home screen, and you can arrange your web clips along with the other icons. Add a web clip: Open the webpage and tap . Then tap “Add to Home Screen.” Touch and hold any icon on the Home screen until the icons start to wiggle. Tap the “x” in the corner of the web clip you want to delete.

Keyboard Shortcuts

1. To get the international domain extensions on the [.com] key (e.g .co.uk, .fr, etc)
1a. Tap on Settings on your iPhone's home screen, navigate to: General > Keyboards > International Keyboards. Turn on the languages of the international domain extensions you might want to use. Then while you are using your iPhone's Safari browser and want to type that regional domain extension, tap on the key on the keyboard with a picture of a globe on it (to the right of the 123 key and left of the "." key) and switch to the keyboard you want. Then hold down the [.com] button which should result in a menu to pop-up abobe it with the option to chose the extension from.

1b. When you type in your address, hold down the ".com" button to get a selection of 3 other domain name endings: ".net," ".edu," and ".org." When you tap on any of the endings, it will be automatically inserted in the address bar.

2. Alternative way to add contact before SMS (Apis_LuaLua)

3. To immediately stop sending SMS while sending them (GaussSeidel)
When you press the "Send" button and realized that you want to cancel it, just press the "Sleep" or "Wake" button to lock your iPhone and immediately after that you unlock it back by pressing the same button n slide it. It will then show the same message you type just before you press the "Send" button.

4. Display new text messages when iPhone is locked
In Settings, choose General > Passcode Lock and tap to turn “SMS preview” on.

5. Emoji - Emoticons
If you’re looking to add emoticons to your iPhone or iPod Touch, you might be surprised it’s already built in. Emoji is very poplular in Japan and was added in firmware 2.2 and the catch is that it’s only available when your iPhone is set to Japanese language.

To enable Emoji for non jailbreak iPhone, refer to this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/855700 or you can download/search Emoji applications in iTunes Appstore for free.

For jailbreak iPhones, you can download Emoji via Cydia through iSpazio repo.
