Hi hi, I was reading bout the thread for UTHM, so i thought perhaps u guys can help me out with some information.

I'm registering to UTHM this coming December( deferred my registration previously), for my Master course intake. I haven't been to Batu Pahat before and don't know anyone there at all so I'm worried about finding a room to rent near the Uni. I was told by the UTHM staff, they dun provide hostel to postgraduate student. I'm from Sarawak..

Hence, i have to find my own way to rent a room near the campus. I'm taking the E&E course, so i guess i will be at the main campus. I dunno anything about Batu pahat. Do u happen to have some juniors there who can help me out with the room renting situation? Any advice??

I actually got a lot of question to ask, but i have to solve my most important issue first >> Accomodation. I think i will probably plan a short trip to the area beforehand, but i need to know where to go and how to get there. Like how to get from Senai airport to UTHM? Which area is suitable to rent a room near Uni. Of course, if u guys are so nice enough to guide me when i reach there, or help find room renting info beforehand, that would be so good.

Perhaps, i can even be ur housemate. lol

hi there, sorry din notice this post. Neway, i'v replied to your pm 2me.
About the house rental i'll try to find some contacts for u. So u r moving in by this early Dec rite? how long will u be staying at Parit Raja , B.Pahat here?

If u do plan 2visit Batu Pahat here, u can have a temporary stay at a budget inn near UTHM city campus for a few days to check out the surroundings.

Getting to UTHM:
-Frm Senai airport u can take a taxi straight to UTHM for RM80-RM100. Perhaps u can share the taxi with students goin 2uthm frm d airport too.. much more cheaper.
-If u wanna take d bus, frm senai airport u take a bus to Larkin for around RM2 (1hour). then from Larkin bus station u take a bus to Batu Pahat for RM10++ (2hours). frm B.Pahat bus terminal u take a Causewaylink (yellow colour) bus to UTHM for about RM2.80 (45mins).

hope it helps =)

Wow... the public transport to get to UTHM sounds so complicated and time consuming.. I think i'll opt for taxi first time round. :-) I will oso stay at the budget inn during my visit. Thank you so much for the info, very useful to me. Just wondering, does bus from JB terminal stop at Yong peng?? so for example, i take Taxi from yong peng? Will tat save time?? or there's no such route???

I need all the help i can get to rent a room in December. I dun mind male or female housemates as long as i can get a room near the uni. I won't have car, so i'll have to depend on public transport to attend lectures. Duration of staying is the master course programme duration > 3 semester.

Thank you so much~

Hi there,

I'm going to UTHM this coming December and i'm currently residing in Sarawak. I have never been to the area at all. I need to find a place to stay near the Uni, does anyone know any friend who has a room to let in the area or any kind of information that can help me out?

Thanks..

Why dun u just stay at hostel? Surely HEP or Kolej Kediaman can consider someone like you to stay inside? If you insist not to stay at hostel, a lot of rent house available around UTHM/ Parit Raja...you can share with your frens (either from S'wak or your classmates)

i'm getting a master there, and Uni said hostel are for undergraduates, i need to find my room outside. I know there are a lot of rent house available around UTHM, but did u read that i'm in Sarawak now? This is the reason i need help. If i have friends going with me, i won't be facing this problem. The fact is, i'm going there alone. My first semester starts in December, so i haven't meet my coursemate yet, if that's what u were referring when u mention 'classmates'.

OIC...but u didn't tell beforehand u're postgrad student.. oso, i assumed dat u can make new fren on register day. if by research, not really have classmate....Well, what I need to know now are:

1. What race are you (SMSeng.... Chinese eh?)
2. Which faculty?
3. Want terrace house or a flat? (only 1 flat at Pt. Raja doh.gif )...
4. Alone or dun mind sharing?
5. How much willing to pay?

Anyway...if I spot any ads, will PM u da hanset number....

aBg_rOnGak

1. Yes, chinese
2. FKEE
3. Anyplace tat's convenient for me to get to Uni on daily basis.
4. Alone (most preferably). Sharing with 1 person if no choices..
5. Of course as little as possible. lol.. (jk). Dunno price in the area, so no idea at all. Hoping for something reasonable..

As long as there's a number for me to call for asking room to rent/room-mates, i will call and ask. If it's at the city campus, i don't mind giving a try too ( i heard Uni provide transport btw city and main campus, so it's quite convenient too, rite?).

Thank you so much for the help.

To be honest, I consider house rent is somewhat a bit pricey here... not to be compared to KL or JB, but still, if compare to other small towns, a bit dearer... terrace wit 3rooms n 2 bathroom/toilet will cost you between rm250 to rm550, depends on location, house condition n of cource, the owner....there's also village ppl rent room or even small(er) house/terace... I'll ask my frens to look around their housing area for ads
*
You mean whole house cost 250-550 or one room cost so much?? o.O
I guess it will be a bit pricey coz the landlords know students will rent the houses anyway, since it's closer, more convenient and less time to commute.
I'm in the same situation now, i'm renting anything i can find now. lol

At this stage, i can only pray. sweat.gif

Thanks again, aBg_rOnGak.
