What faculty are you in? Batu Pahat has Summit, BP Mall, Square One, MBO, Big Cinema, Wet World, Indoor swimming pool, and some low end pubs if you know how to find them.
Trip to JB is around 1 hour and so does Melacca. It's near to Kluang as well. Water quality there is not so good so you will need to get a water filter or buy the RO water from the machines. Food there sucks. A lot of mamak stalls. You will need to hunt for Chinese food which is not many outlets over there.

I am in the final year. Having internship right now. This is my last subject. ^^ The community has been increasing a lot, and it is still increasing by the time I joined this university. Have fun there and enjoy all the facilities. If you have think carefully to join this community, then go ahead. It's a good university with a lot of new facilities. The most important thing is your friends. Find friends which suit you the most.

However, sorry to say this, UTHM is unlike universities in KL, i.e. UKM, UM, UPM where these universities are surrounded by concrete jungle. Shopping malls are all around. So don't expect much for your social life unless you have good friends, as I have mentioned.

Perwira is like flats. The design is different from block to block. There are blocks for male and blocks for female. Normally it is a unit with 3 rooms, 1 living room, each toilet in each room. If you are lucky then you will get larger space. =)
