lazy to write so much..just wanna stated my opinion here why uthm is good as a place for studying

1.i just graduated early on this month.now i am working as an engineer in KL.all my fren now have their own job as an engineer,or they further their studies at higher level.at my work place, most of them studied at UTM,my project manager,my assist. resident eng,my quantity surveyor..the list goes on..basically UTM is the best place to learn if u wanna be an engineer..followed by other university..so i assume UTHM and UNITEN is similar in producing a quality engineer..no differences..

2.Parit Raja is like Selangor in 80?Who dare says that?all my friends study there love the life at Parit Raja UTHM.the air,the environment, the road..i also prefer life at batu pahat than at KL..shopping place?dont worry,we got the Summit,BP Mall and CitySquare plaza at Batu Pahat..or if u prefer further u can go to Kluang Mall or shopping mall at Kluang..i forgot its name..both got its own cinema and bowling place to play bowling..eating?i love the price here..with rm 2 u can get nasi + ayam goreng + air sirap..even if u breakfast for 10 person at mamak here u just pay the price low than rm10..for good and popular eating place..go try Kerang Bakar Senggarang,Mi Racun Batu Pahat,Nasi Lemak Kerang Parit Raja,Roti Bakar Keluang..the list goes on and on..too many smile.gif

3.Transportation to University is available around parit raja.just choose where do u wanna stay..they will be a bus/van take u to UTHM each 30 minutes...

4.Futsal Maniac?this is i love most..play for one hour at RM20..too many futsal place for u to choose with..start from rm20 to rm40..the quality is similar like u play at futsal place in KL..

*err did i write to much??i dont know bout uniten so i dont bother to write about it..just wanna share my experience, studying for 4 years there...the place give me so many good and bad memories..smile.gif*

Hi hi, I was reading bout the thread for UTHM, so i thought perhaps u guys can help me out with some information.

I'm registering to UTHM this coming December( deferred my registration previously), for my Master course intake. I haven't been to Batu Pahat before and don't know anyone there at all so I'm worried about finding a room to rent near the Uni. I was told by the UTHM staff, they dun provide hostel to postgraduate student. I'm from Sarawak..

Hence, i have to find my own way to rent a room near the campus. I'm taking the E&E course, so i guess i will be at the main campus. I dunno anything about Batu pahat. Do u happen to have some juniors there who can help me out with the room renting situation? Any advice??

I actually got a lot of question to ask, but i have to solve my most important issue first >> Accomodation. I think i will probably plan a short trip to the area beforehand, but i need to know where to go and how to get there. Like how to get from Senai airport to UTHM? Which area is suitable to rent a room near Uni. Of course, if u guys are so nice enough to guide me when i reach there, or help find room renting info beforehand, that would be so good.

Perhaps, i can even be ur housemate. lol

hi there, sorry din notice this post. Neway, i'v replied to your pm 2me.
About the house rental i'll try to find some contacts for u. So u r moving in by this early Dec rite? how long will u be staying at Parit Raja , B.Pahat here?

If u do plan 2visit Batu Pahat here, u can have a temporary stay at a budget inn near UTHM city campus for a few days to check out the surroundings.

Getting to UTHM:
-Frm Senai airport u can take a taxi straight to UTHM for RM80-RM100. Perhaps u can share the taxi with students goin 2uthm frm d airport too.. much more cheaper.
-If u wanna take d bus, frm senai airport u take a bus to Larkin for around RM2 (1hour). then from Larkin bus station u take a bus to Batu Pahat for RM10++ (2hours). frm B.Pahat bus terminal u take a Causewaylink (yellow colour) bus to UTHM for about RM2.80 (45mins).

hope it helps =)

Wow... the public transport to get to UTHM sounds so complicated and time consuming.. I think i'll opt for taxi first time round. :-) I will oso stay at the budget inn during my visit. Thank you so much for the info, very useful to me. Just wondering, does bus from JB terminal stop at Yong peng?? so for example, i take Taxi from yong peng? Will tat save time?? or there's no such route???

I need all the help i can get to rent a room in December. I dun mind male or female housemates as long as i can get a room near the uni. I won't have car, so i'll have to depend on public transport to attend lectures. Duration of staying is the master course programme duration > 3 semester.

Thank you so much~

i do agree with u d facts here keenjoy1413. but i believe every uni be it private or local gov U each have their own specialty. mayb uniten is good majoring in engineering? mayb its good @english short couses offered there? mayb its gud @its transportation or otr facilities etc etc.. im not sure about uniten but i do know that uthm is not lacking in facilities wise, environment 4study also in civil engineering as well. n i believe u can c d same problem dat not all lecturers in every universities are flawless. some r really greatly qualified but dey juz can't deliver d teachings well.
*
i dont really go tru all this discussion..but...all i can conclude is UTHM is the best place ever for me to learn...im talking about the enviroment..if u were type of guy who challenge ur self..place ur butt from city or urbanlife to a rural...or jawanese village...so that u will adapt something new...i not going to make a comparision over here..bocoz uthm is my place not uniten..so its unfair to make a comparision...fr me laahh..

actually uthm has alot of potential to be develope...nowsaday the 1st aerospace engineering will be base in uthm 1st in malaysia!!!this is prove that uthm future plane to be the pioneer in engineering filed...fyi..civil engineering actually in uthm is very concrte..the invovle in asean universiti networking colaborate with many uni around da world...

penat lah nak taip...byk sgt...aku nk sambung keje...pepadai la u decide...rite now im working in power energy const...proud with uthm!!!

Hi there,

I'm going to UTHM this coming December and i'm currently residing in Sarawak. I have never been to the area at all. I need to find a place to stay near the Uni, does anyone know any friend who has a room to let in the area or any kind of information that can help me out?

Thanks..

Why dun u just stay at hostel? Surely HEP or Kolej Kediaman can consider someone like you to stay inside? If you insist not to stay at hostel, a lot of rent house available around UTHM/ Parit Raja...you can share with your frens (either from S'wak or your classmates)

i'm getting a master there, and Uni said hostel are for undergraduates, i need to find my room outside. I know there are a lot of rent house available around UTHM, but did u read that i'm in Sarawak now? This is the reason i need help. If i have friends going with me, i won't be facing this problem. The fact is, i'm going there alone. My first semester starts in December, so i haven't meet my coursemate yet, if that's what u were referring when u mention 'classmates'.

1. Yes, chinese
2. FKEE
3. Anyplace tat's convenient for me to get to Uni on daily basis.
4. Alone (most preferably). Sharing with 1 person if no choices..
5. Of course as little as possible. lol.. (jk). Dunno price in the area, so no idea at all. Hoping for something reasonable..

As long as there's a number for me to call for asking room to rent/room-mates, i will call and ask. If it's at the city campus, i don't mind giving a try too ( i heard Uni provide transport btw city and main campus, so it's quite convenient too, rite?).

Thank you so much for the help.

To be honest, I consider house rent is somewhat a bit pricey here... not to be compared to KL or JB, but still, if compare to other small towns, a bit dearer... terrace wit 3rooms n 2 bathroom/toilet will cost you between rm250 to rm550, depends on location, house condition n of cource, the owner....there's also village ppl rent room or even small(er) house/terace... I'll ask my frens to look around their housing area for ads

You mean whole house cost 250-550 or one room cost so much?? o.O
I guess it will be a bit pricey coz the landlords know students will rent the houses anyway, since it's closer, more convenient and less time to commute.
I'm in the same situation now, i'm renting anything i can find now. lol

At this stage, i can only pray. sweat.gif

Thanks again, aBg_rOnGak.

those out there who actually consider coming to uthm, i'd strongly advice to rethink carefully. university life should be great and its suppose to be a lot of fun. yes, no doubt its cheap and you'd get ptptn and stuffs so u get some extra money to spend. but if it was me making the decision btw uthm and uniten, i'd go for uniten. well i've been studying in uthm for two years now. electrical engineering. and let me tell ya something, it was one of he biggest mistakes i had ever done in my life that i truly regret. first of all, i had no idea at all how the surroundings are gonna be like. i just come here cos its cheap, thats all (and my parents were glad that they dont have to spend so much sending me to college). THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE SINGLE DAY THAT I FEEL HAPPY BEING HERE. life is miserable. batu pahat is a kampung, everywhere is a freaking kampung and u wont be able to buy things easily, u've to go to town for that. the people here mainly speak their native language. if u're an english ed or a banana, which in this case i am one, u'll find some trouble living here. in terms of food, there are some cheap chinese and malay stalls around parit raja.

ok, now for the university. everything here sucks, from the quality of education down to the people here. the standard of english here sucks too. u can see plenty of grammatical errors in the learning modules which we bought from the lecturers, and its them who made those modules and sometimes its embarassing if outsiders take a look at it. those who actually enjoy studying and living around here are only the geeks and nerds. u can hardly meet cool people here. about 99.9 percent of them are the chinese and malay stereotypes. the lecturers suck in english, except mr talha he's damn cool if u meet him. he speaks english and is not racist. he kinda has a liberal thinking and he thought that uthm is a f***ed up place too. this sem i had a lecturer who is a faggot and we can hardly hear his talking. i dunno about civil engineering though, i heard that its civil's uthm notable for. there are some racists and discriminators around too, but most of the guys in my class are fine.

i have a friend who screwed up badly here and did credit transfer to a private university in kl. he's doing great in his studies now. said that its a million times better than uthm. i wish i can do credit transfer too, but its already 2 years i wonder if i can still do it. also, another friend of mine who is studying here is having problems with his annoying housemates and this wretched life and wishes to get out of this place. uthm is ranked 23rd in the list of local universities in malaysia which is amongst the last. its even beaten by mmu, ump, ums, unimas, unimap, uum, utem and many others.
