Yes home bred is the best.. coz they are housed in a much stress free environment.. But sometimes you need to see what the breeders feed, how they treat their GPs and such also.. There is a lot of petshops ni hehehe.. just take a day off to go to the many2 different kinds of petshops.. BTW dont buy from Safari You be the judge of how healthy the GPs are ^^ Good luck~

You can do a research and visit some pet shop, not every pet shop is bad as what sugarcoated mention.  And Hagen been in the market for long, they pellet is not high grade tho, but your GP wont die with not using other pellet. Delikate is just another brand may not be grade food as it claim, but it is selling like hot cake outside by the distributor.
All live stock supply to the pet shop is from breeder who breed from home, shop and back yard. And mostly will have very high chances of inbreed as well. You can check with the pet shop if they welling to tell you is local or from thailand. Most properly 99% is local breed. That's you can get GP on just RM3X something onward.

Just check out any pet shops. As long as the GP have no fungus/parasites  on them its safe to buy. I would say that 80% of pet shop guinea pigs are infested by parasites or skin disease. Make sure to check properly before buying.

I started to panic just now...wondering should I continue feeding them or not...what I am pretty sure is going to make a cage like a member here....it is really cool...how come in a pair sure one of it will bully the weaker one? mine they took turn to teasing each other....they was chasing around the cage until my bf's dog barking at them to stop...aggressive piggies...My gps likes to scare the babysitter always do that when I am not around...they will wheek and chasing around. When calm them down they will start to purring...then one of them will just lying down for you to massage the body...amboi sedap la tu~~

So the GP older than 6 month old just need to feed them with timothy hay? No need alfafa right?

Just went to survey at Pet Wonderland just now. Saw 4 short hair GP... all seem healthy..
The was Peruvian GP also but imported from Holland wor.. Price RM198 wor.. 
All also look healthy thou.. age 3-4month..

i teach my GPs to do a spin or twice to beg for food. if they spin once they will get the regular size of cutted cherry tomato, carrot or broccoli. if they spin twice they'll get bigger portion  its not that hard to teach them, just be patient.

hmm i'm still waiting for Yui to deliver her babies...her stomach so heavy n big d, n the babies kicking like crazy....i cant tell when she's going to delive (i waited for 3 weeks d...) maybe its just around the corner, maybe tonite?

ic u wan GP? sure i have to wait for my Yui to deliver the babies then i'll get back to you ya still waiting....my other 2 females are pregnant too but still along way to go....

hi everyone, its been a while...

i would like to ask if anyone can tell me how to know ur GP is going to give birth? got signs like she will stay only in 1 place in the cage, or she'll wheek or whine aloud? i cant tell when my YUi is going to deliver. i'm worried her pregnancy took too long to finish. last 2 days i tried to touch her stomach at the side and she like squeal as if i hurt her, then when i try to hold her for closer look she will try to avoid my touch, then whe i try to lift her she'll squeal when i touch her belly...gosh i'm so worried...is she in pain?

and is it normal for pregnant sow to lose their fur in some part of their body? my Yui's ankle area is almost bare, and her skin felt dry to my touch...is this normal? can pregnant sow can be treated for her skin problem or should i wait till she finish deliver then start the treatment?

Help, i'm so worried about Yui....

Well..I understand your worries, as your Jasper is quite a problematic one..  why don't you boarding them at Dr. Jenny's clinic?  Would this give you peace of mind?

thank you dear meiixiin n juztiny...hmm how much a big pack of oxbow pellet cost? u try sell it to GP owners here la, better than wasting it...my GP are on prestige cavi + Hagen pellets. they just love it 

currently i have 6 + 3babies= 9 GPs originally i got 4 of my own (1 male n his 3 wifes  ) then my aunt hand me her 2 males as she will move to Korea (now looking for new kind owner for them coz i have many gp already... )

my family gets bigger with the 3 naughty kids summore  hoho and my 3rd female are oso counting her days to her delivery....now thats what i call raining guinea pigs.....
