i hope its not to late to say congrats Juztiny for the cute babies happy.gif i have 2 news frm my pets, 1 bad n 1 good....

bad news is....kumo-chan my baby white abby left us last nite around 11pm...she is very weak...she refuse to milk n eat, and i never know why....I'm so sad of her leaving when i held her in my hands, i almost couldnt bear it...

i suspected that she is blind, she have difficulties milking n finding her mom, (i dunno her sex but i just suspect its a she) and she didnt eat unless i encourage her slowly to chew...i tried my best to save her but....may kumo-chan RIP cry.gif

the good news is, my other GP Cyndyquil gave birth to 3 VERY energetic  rclxm9.gif  babies 7th May around 11pm. i didnt expect she'll deliver anytime soon (i miscalculated....) and almost got a heart attack when i saw her first baby pop out while i fill her feeding bowl. as i observe her delivery was very fast n she looks like very experienced. the 3rd baby is very weak, i did the "spin" technic to help clear the fluid stuck in her, and now she is is running n jumping with the other 2, haha so glad all of them are safe  rolleyes.gif

the 3 kids start eating n exploring the cage already...they are very active n jumpy, really different from Yui's babies...they grew very quickly too~! and their colors are nothing like their mom or dad, 1st is beautiful broken reddish brown n black color, 2nd is reddish brown, 3rd is all black..all of them is abby happy.gif will post pics later ya happy.gif

Oh..so sad to hear your white kumo-chan died. Well...may it find happiness over the rainbow bridge.

Congrats on your new babies, this time more experience already lah..

Sigh...quite disappointed...my favourite dark brown Shebby baby is a male, whereas the latte color Shebby is female. I normally like to keep female, as female GP can share cages with the rest easily.

Here are more pictures of my 2 days old Shebby GPs.

haha muchan i love abby too, in fact i love all type of GP, they are irresistable~! rclxm9.gif oh Juztiny ur babies (i mean ur GP babies...) are so cute~! oh the color of ur fave brown GP is similar to one of the babies i had (um...my GP had... sweat.gif ) i call the color reddish brown, to me the color is unique smile.gif oh you can see the gender at 2 days old? really expert~!

my cam is with my dad and he's snoring now.... sweat.gif cant wait to take their pics...

um i wanna ask, izzit ok if i put my other pregnant abby in the same cage with the momy gp n the kids? during the delivery i remove her frm the cage, i put her in a cage next to the original cage, but she is restless, keep biting the bars to get out n keep looking at her fren the mom...so last nite i transfer her back to the cage...she help cleaning the kids n the kids oso love laying next to her. the mom oso look relaxed n dun show defensive or stress..i wonder will there will be any issue? for now all seems ok...
*
Well...you could put that female GP inside the same cage with babies provided she is not an aggressive type. However one thing to beware is the babies biological mom may protective over her babies, then will bully that female GP. Actually if those 2 females GP have been living together in the past, then nothing much to worry..the female auntie will help to care for the babies too. In the wild, they are caring for each other, except that there are 1 or 2 personality problematic type.

I have one female GP which I adopted from someone early this year, very aggressive type, also bully my other female GPs, she can never get along with anybody.

Oh...ya, here is the sample reference you could refer to identify your GP babies' sexes.

Well..I understand your worries, as your Jasper is quite a problematic one.. why don't you boarding them at Dr. Jenny's clinic? Would this give you peace of mind?

Hrm..... hmm.gif yeah,Jasper is the most problematic one.... unsure.gif Choco is abt 5 weeks old and i'm planning to separate him frm the mother to avoid interbreed. When i put him to Jasper big cage today and observe them, Jasper was trying to hump him(Choco).... doh.gif rclxub.gif Haizzzz.....seems Jasper is too agressive in this and i need to get something(maybe coropast) to divide the cage or else something bad might be happen.... yawn.gif

Just wonder whether will male gp hump male gp? or maybe i identify the wrong gender on Choco? sweat.gif

Hrm....it is a good idea what maybe i should board them at Dr.Jenny there but i'm a bit worried that 1st thing is there are many dogs and cats boarded at there and just worried that my gps will feel stress due to the dog's bark and 2nd thing is the new environment at there also might cause them stress.

Btw, Juztiny, all your new born gps are so cute,healthy.... wub.gif

Kaoru, may kumo-chan RIP and congratulation to you on the new born pups biggrin.gif

So happy to know that there are so many new born healthy pups ard LYN biggrin.gif

Hmm..actually new environment won't really cause them stress till death, unless that GP is already very weak and have hidden illness.

Well...if your GPs are currently in good health, then I'm sure your sister could manage the feeding well..

I might have missed this meiixiin, did u straight away give the oxbow? Or did you give it with old pellets? Coz GP take time to adapt to new food. You will need to mix it with old pellets for first few feedings is 80% old pellets and 20% oxbow. Then you slowly cut down the old pellets until 100% oxbow.. nod.gif

Sure..no problem..it is good to share with new GP owners..at least they won't be fooled by the shopkeeper.

hrm....i was thinking to put Choco and Jasper together for overnight too....but i just worried that Choco might be too stress because Jasper keep on chasing him to hump and disturb him. And i also worried that Jasper might accidently step on Choco and cause any internal injuries(just like Snowy's case). But when i went to pet shack today Jack told me should be ok since Choco is already 5 mths old.....

I really dunno what should i do now (whether separate them wt coropast or no need separate them or still let Choco stay with Jingle).....anyone have any command on this?
*
If Choco is already 5 months old, it is ok to mix with his dad. In fact, 4 months old is time to mix with the other males. Don't wait too long, as Choco become older, he may not respect the elder anymore and will try to challenge with Jasper to be the leader, then they would fight even worst. Now at least, Choco will stress for one day being chased by the dad. After a day or 2, they will settle down peasefully.

I went to Denso last week at IOI mall and found this Cube alike thingy, problem is, it does not have any connector. Only the wire mesh.
There were two type available. The long chrome type which I am not sure is a good idea for GP cage and the square one that should do the job well enough.

You guyz know where I can get the connector?

Then I went to Jusco and found this plastic garden gate. Its quite cheap actually but it doesn't fit into the decor...
user posted image
Now all I need to do is find the time to design out the cage. I already have a general idea the type of table I would use as the place to put them, a 2 feet x 3 feet wooden foldable table. or if possible getting a much longer table...

As for the Coroplast though, I still don't get the idea that how the heck is it supposed to retain all the piss me Cavy keeps spreading liberally around.
*
You have the choice to wait for Daiso to restock its connector stocks, meanwhile you could use those plastic strip that people use to tie cables or wire to tie the wired frame.

Btw, how much does it sell per piece for the long/square wired frame in Daiso?

Rm 5 I assume, coz no price tag one and everywhere i Stand, they got poster saying.

Only RM5 per item! Every Item

As for the typing up part, I am more concerned that is it possible for it to stand straight and not falling down under the assault of the Cavies.

My cavy like to climb up the wire mesh one. Then bite bite bite bite bite bite. Stop only after i tickle them.
*
To stablelize the fence, you need to buy additional wired frame to support the base, unless you are using the fences for the legs of your table then it could be stable.

I am thinking along that line too.

Additional fence at the bottom to tie at the corner. the fence SHOULD be able to stand on its own then...
*
If RM5 per item, buy longer wire frame more worth it, as it will equal to 2 square frame. Last time I bought in Daiso Singapore, different sizes different price.

QUOTE(JackLene @ May 11 2009, 04:23 PM)
well.... i dare not guarantee anything to u but...here's the thing:
I put mine together exactly at that age...
5 weeks old mixed with an 8 months old...
like i said... he did the same thing... chase and hump...and stress the little one out
but.... they are living happily together now... the little one is following the older one everywhere he goes...

if u really want to separate them... keep in mind that u will have to separate them forever...
means u probably wont be able to put them together in future because they might not ever get along..
NOT even after u put them side by side for months..
coz i have 2 males that i put side by side for like half a year +++...
but they still fight when i put them together in the same cage.. they will never ever get along

good luck ^^~
*
Fully agree with Jacklene. 5 weeks old is not too fragile actually....unless Choco is exceptionally weak and fragile. I normally separate the male baby from the SOW around 4 weeks old. I have seen a 4 weeks old male baby wanted to hump its mom, of course the Mom's size is bigger, the male baby cannot successfully reach.

wow Juztiny....your really gonna breed them?? anyways..i wanna share few things here...

first, on last Sat, 9th May me, my bf, and his bro went to Carrefour (the one beside to Subang Parade) and saw this:
user posted image

i saw like erm around 10 or less abby gp were place in one of that glass cubical thing...the one that they use to display hand phones... not only gp but also other small furry friends...like hedgehogs hamsters...and cant remember wat else..oh yeah rabbits and one chinchilla ..and they place the sugar glider in a very small cage like the one for birds on top of the glass cage....i cant take a good picture cos i was cared that the sales lady would scold me...so i took from far...it brakes my heart to see this...btw..they sold abby at the price of rm50...

second on sunday, 10th may, we went to the curve... we visited the pet safari...and true enough about the gps there...they look very very sick...there were like more then 10 in one tank..and i saw a few with mites problem...one had bold spot around it's eye...all of them were abby...i could take a pic coz...i felt soo sad...and there were a lot of people looking from outside of the store

after that we went to Tesco and i found the cube thing that u guys were looking for...
user posted image
they were sold at rm54 i think.. if i remembered correctly...

*
I don't sell my GP babies to petshops...and I never like to sell to people whom ask for discount too..because I priced my babies quite reasonable...as they are very healthy and so far no buyers complained to me that my babies I sold died or having mites problem.

If those cube a set cost only RM54...then quickly grab..very worth it.

Got anyone here allergic to guinea pigs? Not sure if its a common thing or not, but if after I cuddle my piggies, I will get small red welts all over my arm. I notice especially if I contact with any of their pee or even if they lick me, I get welts immediately. My eyes also itch if I play with them too long. Funny thing is I am not allergic to any of my other pet gerbils, hamsters or rabbits, just the guinea pigs.

I think Muchan did mention she allergic to GP too.

sugarcoated candy~ wow..izit???wat is ur nick??

Actually she is only 2 years+ , not that old at all....I suspect it could be due to the garden grass or fresh food you let her eat has chemical substance causing the intestine problem or failure. I normally soak my fresh veg for at least 1 hr before feeding my GPs.

is there any special solution you use to soak the vege? soak for 1 hour not too long izzit? coz i once read that vitamins in vege is easily dissolve in water, that is why some veges we don cook too long..correct me if i'm wrong...
*
I think is ok to soak for an hour, to make sure the chemical is gone. I didn't use any other solution to soak, but my house is using Diamond filtered water. Hehehe...the Diamond advertisement said it is very good in soaking the veg.
