QUOTE(WereWolf84 @ Apr 22 2011, 05:31 AM) if you only need DTS sound, a DVD player will suffice your requirement......you need an optical or coaxial cable to do that Dear WereWolf, I already have a DVD using coaxial cable and I'm thinking of getting a plasma tv and a blu-ray player. Kind of wondering if I shud use the same to get the DTS sound from blu-ray? Just to make sure I can still get the DTS sound b4 investing the $. Thanks!

Hi guys, I just got myself a free unit of Yamaha RX-V430. I am hoping any seniors here would like to help me with my speaker purchase. I am more to a music person and looking for a decent bookshelf unit. I came across many used unit such as Mission or Tannoy but I just have no idea how far can this 75watter baby goes or can it support those bookshelf unit. Appreciate any kind of advices! p.s. Any members from Penang able to recommend shops selling used speakers would be very nice. Thanks.

Hi Danny, since I'm looking into a used bookshelf unit I would say the budget should be less than 1k. I might probably looking into a decent surround and a sub.
Hi dirtrun, Does Watts hifi selling used unit too? Dare not going there because I heard their prices are quite exorbitant.
Cheers! TH

QUOTE(dirtrun @ Nov 12 2011, 03:52 PM) Yes.. They sometimes do.. carry on from regular customers who trade in their old gear.. Really.. who told u tat?? I mean.. they are not de cheapest but I wouldnt say they are THE most expensive.. Anyway.. B & M stores need overhead for rental/staff/stock in trade.. U cant really compare to those online stores.. besides here , u can see/feel/hear d product u have in mind.. D Dirtrun, you do have a point here. I'll go and have "peep" just in case I'm lucky. Cheers TH

QUOTE(dirtrun @ Nov 13 2011, 03:21 PM) Well, For pre-owned gear, u must either be lucky or real patient - I waited close to a year before I finally found a pair of tannoy floorstanders tat I wanted.. U can also try hifi4sale .. sum good deals there frm time to time.. D oh yes, hifi4sale. many good deals and tempting too but most of the owners are out of the isle and that's too bad (or at least to me!). No issue D, I'll keep looking maybe get lucky and need not wait for too long. Based on yr experience what impedance speaker should I get? It seems the unit I have has two options of 6/8ohms. Cheers, TH.

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Nov 14 2011, 08:26 AM) just get the normal 8ohm but 6ohm won't hurt too. Thx Sky. Just wondering if HT speakers are the same with Hifi speakers? Can Hifi speakers get damaged if I use them for HT too? Cheers, TH.
