Got a question to ask guys, does anyone in M'sia do Audyessey Pro calibration (with the associated hardware), and is it worth over the standard calibration you do yourself?

I got my pro kit from Sound Decisions SG, they are the distributor. I had already asked around in KL, nobody knows how to get it.

The difference is quite marginal, IMO, with XT32.

He wanted to but can't get it.
That's interesting. So, it did not make a world of difference compared to XT32  hmm.gif Is your system in a dedicated HT room?

Yes, a dedicated and treated room. I'm using a Denon 4311 with outboard power amps in a 5.1 setup.

I've not spent a lot of time tweaking the Audyssey Pro calibration, in fact I've only had time to run the Pro calibration once. But one thing I did notice was that the Pro calibration is much more consistent - sounded great on my first calibration. But I had to repeat the standard calibration a few times before I was happy with it - even with a tripod+arm to hold the mic.

The kit was SGD820 from Sound Decisions

Oh yes. It only works with 4311CI as I was being told. So, it ain't the case as it seems.

Yes, works on my 4311 (MY set). I had a moment of panic when I buying the license online and realized that I was not sure if my 4311 supported Audyssey Pro since the local sets are not marketed as installer ready. But all's good smile.gif

It's hard to compare the differences between regular XT32 and Pro because you have to re-run the calibration each time, you can't store multiple calibrations and switch between them, so I haven't bothered to compare.

But from my experience with regular XT32, it is very sensitive to the measurement locations used - if I included many locations too far from the main listening seat, the overall sound quality was reduced. But after some trial and error, you can get a pretty good result.

With Pro, I just measured a lot of locations and it worked out well the first try, with few calibration artifacts. The response is very even throughout the room. But the main drawback of Audyssey calibration that I hear is still there - a perceived reduction in bass slam. Maybe I need to tweak the curves a bit to put back some midbass emphasis for music listening. At least Pro gives you the flexibility to tweak the target curves post-calibration, which you don't get in XT32.

LX82's ICEpower based amp section is already pretty decent. My guess is that it would sound more 'different' than better - I wouldn't just add a power amp without an audition.

I've always wanted one. Is it difficult to clean?
