QUOTE(jchong @ Aug 5 2013, 01:09 PM) sorry for the late reply as i was away for holidays..received a couple of PM and queries from this thread, so i thought i post all ur queries Emotiva UPA-200 125RMS X 2@8ohm owner willing to let go at RM1.2K condition - immaculate as total hours usage only 1month. the amp has been idling there for few months oredy why upgrade from Emo amp? overall the amp is ok, maybe i expected too much. or maybe the XPA was a better amp 1. sountstage didnt open up 2. didnt get the feel of music flowing out effortlessly. 3. 'attack' n speed was not there previously was running NAD T747 AV amp. noticed the AV amp was very 'noisy' when play at loud volume. sometimes it 'shouts' n wasnt very musical. owner loved playing loud!!..period. calibration was done. usual suspect is the pre/proc n amp. so decided the following upgrade path. the source was Oppo-93 added dedicated emo UMC pre/proc output to NAD T747 use as an amp. with a dedicated pre/proc was oredy a big improvement. so decided to get a power amp to further improved the sys. added Emo amp then later replaced it with parasound H1206 ol skool amp. future plan to build a HT and stereo listening(2 in 1 system) - eventually its still more ideal to get a hifi dedicated power amp as compared to HT amp (to be use for HT n CD playback) - pre/proc is the critical component. eventually emo proc has to go |

QUOTE(mpyw @ Sep 10 2013, 03:36 PM) not really..after being thru a diff kind of HT setup, noticed the biggest culprit is the AVR pre or AV pre/proc.the AV preamp stage has yet to match the hifi pre.. solution: 1. run hifi n HT in a single system. but stereo listening has its own dedicated source and preamp. external power amp shared by HT n Hifi. to do so, amp must have double input(balanced & unbalanced) or 2. venture into more premium AV pre/proc. but according to some of sifu dealers, still cant beat a hifi pre. yet to experience a better AV pre/proc |

QUOTE(jchong @ Sep 11 2013, 02:47 PM) I think what mpyw meant was that the display is small relative to the level of the audio equipment. Would have thought the owner would go for large projection system. sadly projector under rm10k cant beat the curremt mid end led models. the premium projector cost too much rm20k+ not including screen.he prefer quality over quantity |

QUOTE(jchong @ Oct 20 2013, 06:43 PM) they have been around for almost 30 years doing OEM business for other brands. their factory is in thailand and its a thailand brand. only recently last 1.5years they started to manufacture their own in-house brands.i found them at KLIAV show where there were doing demo for their magnet, juz beside my room. at the last day of AV show i did a AB comparison with their amp. the rest of the gears were the same. surprisingly the difference in sound was not very substantial. no doubt the moon W7 was good but the magnet was not far behind. the good thing is the magnet amp was 3.5 times more affordable AB comparison was done using: nagra CDP nagra PL-L preamp Moon W7 250watt dual mono amp(swap with magnet hyperion reference 250watt dual mono) officially we are the distributor in malaysia |
