QUOTE(Hikaru @ Mar 24 2013, 12:42 PM) Hi, You can share more info to the forumers like what you will this system mostly for ? movie, music. You like warm sound or bright ? You prefer to have floor stander or bookshelf ? Size of your room and dimension ? Layout of your room where you want the HT to be.Sorry - quite new to all this. Interested in getting a home theater system for living room. Budget would be anywhere between RM12k-RM16k, although I care about value (Good performance for value of money) Looked online but it's kinda hard to start, especially not knowing Malaysian market and are some parts available. But for what it's worth... Onkyo TX-NR616 looked like a decent AVR. DefinitiveTechnology ProCinema 800 looks good..? Don't know if it's available locally though. Anyone with any recommendations? You can scratch off my research so far.. as I'm sure all you sifus here will have much better idea as to what is worth buying for the price range. Thanks! P.S. I know this topic is to show off your own system - but I really have no idea where else to post. Cracking my head here... |

QUOTE(karhoe @ May 31 2013, 09:41 PM) Guys, my dad just bought an onkyo tx nr 818. The problem is our speakers are quite crappy so we are planning to buy another set of speakers. Can anyone give a suggestion for a 5.1 speaker? How much does it typically cost? With 2 - 5k is quite a wide range. I assume you are using it for movies. I personally like B&W speakers. You can get the 600 series with your budget. Then again there are tones of brand you can consider. klipsch, KEF, Mordaunt Short, Mission, Infinity, AE,Say my budget is from rm2k to rm5k Thanks all sifu |

Not sure about Jamo. You need to listen to it yourself If you like the sound. Speaker are very subjective. What I like might not be what you like

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Jun 11 2013, 04:57 PM) No surprise indeed. Most of the time, we are the only one sitting quietly or lonely while watching our fav movies. Very well said indeed. Fortunately for me, TH is more of whole family enjoyment. Nevertheless still finding execuses to upgradeAt times, we try to find fault with our system and find excuses to upgrade |

QUOTE(skeelee @ Jul 5 2013, 08:08 AM) Just want to share the following facts with you guys: Thanks for sharing. Will avoid NAD then1. Bought a NAD T748 AV receiver in October 2011, and set up for use in December 2011. 2. T748 stopped working in January 2013, sent back for repair. Learned that it is 2-years warranty in Singapore for NAD products but in Malaysia it's only 1-year. 3. As of today after more than 5 months, the technician still has no fxxxing idea as to the cost of parts and repair, when parts will be available, and when the repair can be done. |

QUOTE(terencetoo @ Jul 14 2013, 03:32 PM) Guys, You will need to have connection from TV to your AVRAny idea on solving this issue? it has been awhile but now i have time to look into it. I have this issue getting sound from NAS drive files thru AV amp rather than TV. How do i solve it? My DLNA Config: -------------------------------------------------------------- NAS --Router -- Receiver -- (TV+ BR Player) --Modem -------------------------------------------------------------- Example 1: When i play BlurRay Disk my 5.1 speakers will be triggered where my TV sound will be bypass. Example 2: When playing movies through TV Source to browse through NAS files by 5.1 speakers will not be triggered instead TV sound will be activated. How do i enable my NAS to use my 5.1 speakers? Thanks |

QUOTE(KronenZerg @ Jul 14 2013, 11:56 PM) May i ask for everyone's feedback .. is it good to get std HT system brand same as the TV brand? I hv a Samsung & thinking of getting HT-5530 but an outlet sales guy told me, different brand merging is better. He recommended Panasonic (Forgetten the model).. so, i am kind of confused? Both HT is giving out 1000W and have similiar functions, etc. Same brand or not does not matter as long as it meet your requirementComments pls. Thks |

Emo diffinitely not the greatest when it comes to "musical". I am currently using the XPA-5. Like what max pointed, for HT usage is great bang for bucks. It can be comparable with amp cost twice the price and drive difficult speakers. Adding a DAC into it for music listening does improve things. Listening at moderate level it is still consider good
