Try restoring in DFU mode

i tot the restore only can work in recovery mode.

first of all thanks for the creator of this full of information for newbie like me..

as i read thru, its good to create 2 Itunes acct. Malaysia & US.
I manage to create Malaysia acct. When i try create US acct, the country/region seems to be Prefix to Malaysia. How can i change that ? pls advise..

hmmm... is it possible if i maintain his apps and make new purchase using my itunes account and using home-sharing features in itunes, to have it all?

maybe i'll ask him... like you said, doubt he will share, although he did not use any iphone now...

if i want to restore my iphone. how do i backup all the apps and games data eg. game score, to do apps, etc

and after i reinstall back all the apps after restore.. how do i put back the data (if can be backup) in the apps

Perform sync in iTunes with your iPhone will actually backup all the data in your iPhone already (except for JBed apps).
Once you have restored, you can always choose to "restore from you backup", all data will remain intact.


To check your data is backup or not, check it out at "Preferences > Device" in iTunes.

The Msian iTunes store does not support songs, just applications for iPhone and iPod.

On ur iPhone, U should click into Apps Store and not iTunes. Haf no idea on the other question u posed; wait for another forummer to help u

Hi all, not sure if this being asked ... I am planning to sell of my 2G and upgrade to a 3GS model, however I would like to retain the apps, contacts, etc and the apps I've bought over iTunes Apps Store. Will the transfer be seamless (like clone over all my stuff on the new phone) ? Just want to know before I make the jump and thanks.

just syn, no problem. 1 itunes account can be syn to many iphone

i'll tell u smting...
go to itunes, backup ur 2g...
then u can proceed to restore the device b4 u sell it..
when u get a new 3gs..., n itunes asks u if u want to set it up as a new phone or restore,
a. u can choose to setup as new n u'll be able to sync all ur apps, movies, songs etc...
b. u can choose to restore frm backup n u can still sync all da apps, movies n etc..but additionally, u'll still hv ur call log, sms, saved settings, user logins n all da game data frm da previous phone...
now tat i call seamless..

Not sure if this has been posted but I briefly searched and found no one posted yet.

Some people might be getting corrupted icons if you install and remove apps. This seems to be happening in OS 3.01 whether it is jailbreak or not.

Here is the easiest solution I found that actually fix the problem.

1. Go to the app store and select any FREE application and download it. (select new apps not installed in your phone yet)
2. As soon as the app store sends you back to the app screen and shows it is downloading the app you selected, touch the app icon to pause the download/install.
3. Hold the power button until you get the swipe to shut down.
4. Swipe it and do a regular shutdown.
5. Turn your iPhone back on.
6. Once you have loaded, touch the app to start it downloading again.
7. Once it has downloaded and installed ALL of your apps should now have the correct icons.

anyone faced the album cover sync to iphone no match to the album cover inside iTunes? i have few album cover in itunes is correct but inside iphone are diff. Re-sync also cant fix

I have a question regarding the apps on itunes.

I was looking for an application called "AppSniper", but I couldn't find it on App Store. I had a quick googled and realised that this app is only available on US App Store.

The easiest way to do is to change your country to USA, and fill in a USA address (am I right on this?)

I might have overlooked some of the tutorials on the board, can I forge a fake US address and trick itune to allow me to gain access to US App Store? If yes, can some kind soul show me any tutorials on how to fill-in the USA address?

p/s: I read up and understand that USA App Store offers more games & applications, ya?

i think you need a US iTunes account first...

You need to register for a US iTunes Account. Just make sure you fill in a fake US address in your sign up and follow the steps and voila you got your US iTunes account.

AppSniper is current FREE at the moment so do it quick

just signing up and fill in a US home address & payment method will do, right?

I've always been on the US iTunes store; fairyland @ disneyland will work; what U need to make sure if that the State correlates to it's postcode cause Apple will track that to see if it's eligible; as long as that matches U should have no problems.

PS: Another thing to take note; choose a state where GST = 0% *smiles*
