B ) Sugar Glider as Pets

i ) Laws :
Sugar gliders are not legal to have as pets in some homes or apartments, such case is in university campus. That is why, it is important to research this to see if your place allows sugar gliders as pets, especially to those who are students.

Picking up your glider, what to expect ?

The big day is finally here. You will not need a special carrying pouch for your glider, as we provide one for you. If you are making a journey of more than 2 hours you may want to provide grapes or apple slices for the ride home.

Was wondering, some said grapes are bad. But you recommend grapes. Is there any strong evidence suggesting that grapes is bad? Causing occasionally I fed mine with grapes too.

Congrats on the new thread.

Grapes.... the seeds and the skin are toxic.. dogs and cats should never eat grapes.... the skin has a bloom of wild yeast too, the seed has bitter oils in it. So if I were to give grapes, I would peel the skin away and deseed it. But I rarely give, so far in a year, maybe 1 grape for each glider got lah. Got so many other fruits I would rather give.

Anyway, I'm on my industrial training now, so would rarely be online here. Don't spam coz the other moderators will be watching out since this thread will always have some flame going on with certain members.

Thanks for the info about the grapes. I gave skin too, but they never eat the skin. Will keep that in mind. Guess that applies to blackcurrents as well.

Blackcurrants different loh.....

Why wine is made from grapes is that the skin has yeast naturally and the seed has bitter oils which helps with the tannin.... hohoho, currently I'm studying wine. They memang won't eat the skin on the outside, but when they eat the flesh of the grape, they will gnaw on the skin from the inside.... err... dunno that is understandable or not. Like with apples, if we peel off the skin, the calcium is lower than phosphorus, but if we give them with the skin on, apple calcium ratio is 1 to 1 with phosphorus. Same with oranges but orange got double calcium. So they can still get whatever is toxic from the grape skin.

All this is just to stay, be cautious only. We dunno what will happen later. Grapes are believed to cause liver failure in certain animals, and I read in a few forums overseas that many gliders die from liver failure.

congrats on the new thread.

I'm new here and I have a question to ask about my gliders.
I have 2 twin siblings gliders with me which are around 6 months old.
One is a male (Kiki) and the other is a female (Lala).

now they are fast approaching their maturity age where they will start to reproduce, and i was wondering whether it is safe for siblings of the same parents produce babies.
2day i went to PetShack in Sunway and the owner there told me it is not advisable for sugies siblings to have babies cause the babies they produce may be deformed or disabled or cacat or got mental problems. Just like what will happen when human siblings does the same, the higher chance of having deformed babies.
I was advised to either separate them or newt the male.

well obviously i'm not gonna separate them, hence the only option is to 'potong' the male... T.T~

I just wanna make sure about the "siblings gliders not suppose to reproduce" issue, then if confirmed then maybe by the next 2 months will bring Kiki to the vet.

otherwise if it's ok for them to produce babies then i'll just let them be ^^

help would be much appreciated thx.

here's a pic of kikilala when i 1st got them 2 months+ ago, feasting on babyfood

Go google the word : Inbreeding to read more on its meaning.

Then u will know what to do.

If u accidentally breed this siblings of urs without knowing, then it is forgivable. But now that u knows about it and do nothing, and still wants to continue breeding them, then i really dunno what to say to u.

Well, Neutering the male is a good option here. As females cant be spayed coz of their complex reproductive systems.

Google more ya.
