Hi.. I am exploring this Liferay Portal. Is it possible for Liferay to be deploy or use in regular webhosting package?

for current sadly no, but there are some web hosting offering jsp/servlet server but still the spec i think is not enough. You need a dedicated or virtual server is the best.

maybe you can use application provider.

Hmm... Ok. I thought of creating my own websites using it.

So do you think the below provider can support it with its Java Hosting?

hei i try to get my ldap working with lifefray...

i manage to connect to my AD but i got the message below:

The above results include users which are missing the required attributes (Screen Name, Password, Email Address, First Name, and Last Name). These users will not be imported until these attributes are filled in.

i suspect is the Password that causing this to happened. Can i know what field does you all enter for the Password? Pre-default is userPassword but i can't see this in my LDAP tree.

Thanks.

I think better you ask the technical support first if their server support liferay, because what i see the cpu usage and max memory is quite low.

I'm not so sure bout AD coz never use it before. Are u trying to import user account from AD server or you're exporting user from Liferay to AD server?

maybe u need to key each user password in AD before it can be imported.

Anyone tried the web form ? Lately I was trying to use it and notice that it has a limitation on the number of characters for the label/question. So if ur question/label is too long in the form, it will be produce error messages.. Anyone know if there is any portlet to use to do a proper survey beside the web form ?

i think can, since there's not many company using liferay rite now. the best of liferay is because, u can use 1 physical server to host multiple portal instances.

compare to portal based php, hosting for application based java language need many and big resources.

It is rational that we just target for big company/organigation in market.

Actually instead of doing hosting, should consider doing consultation and implementation of liferay portal for the company. Right now not many company do customization for the liferay template.. just a suggestion..
