Try with another adaptor or put in batteries... Electrical shorts leading to melting are almost impossible to happen within the unit itself considering the low amount of current it draws..

If it's the wrong voltage/current, it could lead to a short circuit...... it happened to me once when I used a wrong adapter for a cheapo distortion pedal yeaaaaaaarrrrrsssssss ago.
It's probably cheaper to get a new Zoom 2.1u then to repair your 505 II.

Yep I used an adaptor, tested the adaptor on other gadget still working fine. I opened the unit today and can see the burnt resistor(?) could not identify the colour of the stripes on its body. If only I could get the schematic for the circuit board maybe can easily find the replacement. It's position on the board labeled R15.
yes I'm in kl, maybe have to bring it to ck music then..
Tq

CK music services / fixes them? Looks like the DSP cannot process the signal anymore.. Try reset it first by hold store/save button when switch on (every zoom products using this style to enter factory reset mode).. CK music services / fixes them? -- Yes..

thanks sidmeiers.. yes it is 22 omhs.. zoom replied my email on the resistor, but no full schematic given... hehehe... taking care of their distributor too.. anyway, it was just after I sent it to CK music.. simple service like that cost only RM30.. well, saves me the time and hassle to find the resistor and welding it back.. so worth it for me.
on specific part to the 505 you have to check with them first, since those are old models, afraid if there is no more parts available.
