THE SECRET AMP - High Resolution Portable Headphone Amplifier - by Reference Audio
After long await, the secret amp has finally landed shortly, as there is a serial no on the back panel, you guys could pre-book the number on it. Amp will be ready at next week, hopefully.  As those who don't know what reference audio is, it is founded by yuheng and walabies, selling headphones initially and we plan to expand to high end portable music. The amp acts as amplifying as well as beautify the music we inject it into. Here is some photos taken. QUOTE the modded ms-1 is very different from the stock ms-1 i took the liberty of comparing my hd555 side by side and pairing with my iqube and secret amp more warm,better mids and not so bright as i thought it will be.... biggrin.gif bass is much more controlled and highs not so sharp and edging... it is very good can thumbup.gif also the same performance as my hd555 but have a bit of recessed mids...and a brighter soundsignature well i think pcwork and nick heard the ms-1 when pair with caps, they told me like gs-1k....... sweat.gif crazy soundstage and mids is superb good.... some teasers guys and despite wat ppl say bout opticals cable, they have transmission loss but very good ones will reduce the transmission lost to minimum effect and i have tested and compare both in fact....the high end optical gave me more tighter bass,more body and no jitter than bloody rm20 optical cable......that gave me jitters all round the clock, hard time coping with digital signal, doh.gif the 1........2 sec pause celaka sweat.gif and sound like crap in my ears...bloated,digitalized, and very very funny weird signature that i couldnt describe....lifeless i would put it... doh.gif really jialat..... QUOTE theng_ye u heard it yeah?? hahaha pair with secret amp the MS1 almost on par with HD650 with cardas cable.. =P ask nicholas.. hehehe QUOTE Okay review time... ok tried the crossfeed juz now...fliped the secret switch and maxed the crossfeed...fuwah...i noticed the diff in soundstage...so i tried toying around with the crossfeed...if you noticed...you can control the front and back of the positioning of soundstage....if that is not cool enough...i seriously dunno what is cooler than this then LOL ok so i fliped the secret switch off...the signature changed,it turns out to be more agressive...that means when the switch was on it was more subtle...now its agressive brows.gif now...does this get you now?this means this amp will almost please both audiophiles that is looking for an amp which have BOTH characteristics...this imho is a major step...but too bad we cant control the positioning of the soundstage when its on aggressive mode another thing i had not confirmed is the battery life...but so far im still using it from the 1st charge...no time to listen to music these days...too busy cry.gif This post has been edited by walabies: Jun 16 2009, 12:45 AM |

Walabies, so the RM799 package doesn't comes with predefault cables at all?
