QUOTE(epool86 @ Apr 24 2009, 09:34 AM) its expensive because u must be a celcom fanboy..but i haf to admit sum of yr points are true. i find d "No sms" very ridiculos. in terms of usability, iphone wins lar.. so in d end, its yr own personal choice. Here we go again iPhone bashing thread + Maxis
Maxis plans seems to be expensive. I agree , however for me 500MB is a huge on the go. I check e-mails , facebook , download few MBs of data. As for calls , nothing biggie. Sure I can't talk long and for SMS - RM 8 for 500 maxis numbers. That seems to be okay , however it would suck if I SMS to non-maxis numbers. This is where my DiGi line kicks in anyhow , the iPhone 3G is a great device. Some of you may dislike it (I am moving from Windows Mobile platform). Its hell better then Windows Mobile (oh yeah you'll say no MMS , no SMS forwarding , no funny emoticons and junk). But thank god it has tons of 3rd party hacks and applications out there. I am enojying it , the plan seems to be a rip off but at least I am getting quite good speeds with Maxis iPhone 3G data (its way better hten lousy broadband) Let me sum it up for you guys. iPhone isn't for :- 1) Those who think that for every ringgit you pay you need to get bang for buck (I bought the Dopod D810 last time with this in mind , found out that in order to have GPS , Wifi , Bluetooth , etc you'll have to sacrifice something) 2) "hardcore" mobile users - Some of you may prefer your Symbian or Windows Mobile OS I bet most of you here would say its a piece of junk. You may be right. Again your useage pattern determines which phone. I don't mind giving up MMS , 3G video conference and others for a good solid phone as I hardly use MMS , 3G calls As for me , the iPhone itself is worth it. Its easy to use , and its non-sense. That's my opinion only ! You gotta love the integration with PC Anyway wait for iPhone Firmware 3.0 , it unlocks more stuff. Oh by the way , the camera in iPhone supports Geo-tagging (or at least it records the location where you took that photo). But one thing I've to admit Blackberry beats the crap out of Windows Mobile , iPhone when it comes to push messages and e-mailing on the go. It just kicks these devices butt ! I personally feel that the Maxis iPhone plan is rather ridiculous on its own. Yes, they brought in the iPhone, but they didn't include the technical support / service / repair / upgrade for the phone that should come along with it. Not to mention, they are putting the cost of bringing in the iPhone and then ripping you off by a huge amount on the customers. The plans you saw have yet to include the advance deposit that you need to pay to Maxis for your "loyalty". A mere calculation seen on many blog sites, to own an iPhone from Maxis, the cost is way above the listed price and the figure could go up to RM6,000 (including advance deposits, data usage, phone calls and etc.). Worth it? I could buy two iPhones without any contract. The plan is just another rip off.
Celcom, it's BlackBerry packages, as interesting as it sounds, it's not. Digi's recently launched phone bundling is more reasonable, at least, on paper. A simple check revealed that the phone price is very close (RM10 difference) to the street price even at its DG50 plan. Now, that's what I call a deal and a promotion. For example, the LG KF750 Secret's street price is about RM1680 and with DG50 plan and 1 year contract, you can get the phone for RM1500. If you are a heavy user, DG250 plan and 2 years contract, you can buy the phone for RM729. That sounds more like a deal / promotion? No? Although the phone choices offered by Digi is not very impressive, plan to plan comparison showed that Digi is more reasonable compared to Maxis's ripping you off packages. If Digi is offering the iPhone packages, am pretty sure it won't be as unsound as Maxis. Malaysia is still far away from giving out free phones like the Western countries. They want us to pay for our loyalty and also the phone they are "offering", what the crap. |

USD only selling at $199,
Cause Malaysia not officially release. Thats why only maxis selling it with plans and such high price. Better buy from another country like Singapore. It is cheap and just need to pay some to unlock the iPhone. Btw, iPhone 3Gs going to release in malaysia also. I think this time Maxis will take the advantage to have some new plans too. Maxis sucks alot. Better buy from iPhone shop. No more extra charge and just can get the phone on the spot. |

No offence though, but...FYI, EDGE/GPRS cannot be turned off thru your phone settings with Maxis plan. Hence, your phone though idle will still continue to drain Kbs gradually (loading new mail etc...)! You won't even realise it & think you're not hitting the data limit by being thrifty with mobile internet usage... but when your bill comes at the end of the month... U will realise it, but by then... "rice already become porridge" Well, you can still hack/jailbreak ur iPhone & install 3rd party apps to disable GPRS/EDGE/3G. but once you jailbreak, then your warranty will be void! Of course you can still restore it before sending back to MAxis incase anything screws up. But it's not convenient to do so, better things to do than hack-restore-hack in a never ending process. |

Added on June 16, 2010, 12:51 pm QUOTE(lesliechan19 @ Mar 31 2009, 03:08 PM) iPhone value plans on Maxis are not worth! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............................Posted by The Leslie at 3/30/2009 04:04:00 PM Labels: Daily ___________________________________________________________________________________ Today after school, I went back home and talk to my mom about the iValue plans. Many of my friends are confusing about it, and I have no choice and force to call Customer Service. After the call, I only find out, it are not worth as what we thinking. First of all, Link for picture.24months. I use 24months value plan for an example. once you getting that iPhone, you have to pay Rm 260 for the phone. But, you also have to pay Rm2000 for advance Advance payment I also have no idea why we have to pay Rm2000 for it. But she told me, this Rm2000 will pay for your first 5 months iPhone bill, Rm375* Monthly commitment *5 months =Rm 1875. and i spent for Rm2260 Rm2260-Rm1875=Rm385 where is my Rm 385?? and after 5 months, you have to pay the normal bill price. Rm375. Don't care you using your phone or what, you have to pay for Rm375 every month. for 24months contract. So, calculate yourself, is it worth? For someone maybe they feel it worth, because they can pay Rm2260 on the spot. I am still planning want to buy or what. Making me headache. of course u need to buy it every month even u not use it or what.. like ur internet service... even u go traveling to other country.. u still need to pay ur internet bill every month... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz................. ur RM375??? of course they take some of ur money cause u pay them every month not pay it full.. zzzzzzzz...
