QUOTE(Acrisius @ Mar 16 2009, 01:51 PM) Teck as in Tech?Did they get their spelling right? Site says USD170 for bulk of 1000 sets = RM629 each unit. P1Wimax is selling it for RM999 each. I saw Alibaba wholesale site offering these modems for cheap Shenzen Natural Technology Co Ltd. Added on March 16, 2009, 5:01 pmThe company which manufactures this modem is also in the same city where Huawei HQ is located. Is this Shenzen company an outsource manufacturer or someone came out from Huawei to establish a new startup? This post has been edited by cameltoe: Mar 16 2009, 05:01 PM |

Looks like P1 follows the Malaysian trend, use the lowest costing parts as long as it blinks, then wait for $$ to roll back in.
Malaysia... 'Truly Asia....' |

The company is Taiwan based but production is in China.Maybe the design were done by Taiwan engineers but manufacturing they set up in China to save costs? P1 might have bought those oem modems in bulk and reconfigure/repackage them. List price is USD170 but I guess they might have got them cheaper. We all where can afford good stuffs one?Malaysia... 'Truly Asia....' People in other countries pay less but their currencies have 2-3 times our buying power. So if we pay RM100, Singaporeans pay SGD50, still they get the more expensive stuff. TM supplies us with cheap Riger modems, Singtel offer 2Wire 4 port routers to their customers. QUOTE(cameltoe @ Mar 17 2009, 12:33 AM) It won't happened unless you have access to their registration system. And how you know about it? You working there? Tried it before? The modem's MAC address have to be registered into their system before it can gain access to P1's network Based on WiMAX Forum standard, the authentication process is using EAP-TTLS but not based on mac address. I login to the admin page before they change the password, the authentication field comes with username/password and some other things. I believe they are following the standard as it should be. Any comment? |

Any comment? It's the only unique fixed data that is to be used to generate the certs used for EAP-TTLS authentication. |

Technically , yeah in order to generate EAP-TTLS , you will need the devices MAC address. Nevertheless , EAP TTLS rocks in sense that P1 doesnt have to install CA certs in each and every individual devices , as the server takes care of it

True, I'm Reseller here (do not shoot me, I just pass by only),The P1 WIMAX MODEM having key-in to P1 database, then the mac address will be active, that why, even you stole the modem which not active also useless, you can't access internet.

If not mistaken, the P1 modem is from a Taiwan company known as "GemTek".
