Can't wait to get a 5800XM, but I don't have the moolah to buy it yet... cry.gif I hope when I get enough money the price will drop...

What do you all think? Will the price drop or will it stay?

I posted it here for a reason - I want to know of other users' feedback instead of just the people who already own Tubes. This question will stay here as I like it.

Besides, I see that whenever outsiders go into the thread with a question it is almost always drowned and ignored by the Tubers who are busily discussing about the earpiece problem, light leak, new games, etc... so how am I going to get as many answers as I can get here than your topic?

In general, all prices will drop. No such thing as constant.

Yes, there are such cases where phone prices stuck at a spot for ages before dropping, and the drop wasn't big either.

As the 5800XM is so popular in M'sia now, I just want to know whether it'll be the same case or otherwise.

Lowyat Forum have rules doesnt mean ppl ignore you means u can create your own rules sir. The thread already been reported its just awaiting mod/admin to handle with it.

And to your question when newer models come out older model phones price certainly will drop.

Now market price already drop to 1280

When they is demand = supply price will go down
When they no demand = less supply price will go down slower.

To Equate it properly,

Demand High, Supply low = Price high
Demand Low, Supply High = Price drop.

Simple as that. You see this everyday. Speculation on price drop can be analyzed via feedback, people selling it off, abundant supply from manufacture, etc. You don't need much of a genius to interpret how much rate of depreciation will go. &, Do take note there is no best time to buy this device. We see newer technology slowly emerges and pushing the older generations to the graves. So, you might wish to wait till this device go down to the range of 500 bucks. But till then, a better device is available and can work on current network with better optimizations. Then you will start to place your hope the new device will fall down to the same price. This will go round and round and round with no ending. In the end you ended up with no decisive decision to buy a handheld device.

I was thinking of it dropping to RM1000-1100. Around there lah. If at that time a new model comes out with same functions (or more) and cheaper, then I'll go for the new model lah.

Just wanna know others' opinions about how the price will be in a few months' time.

Not interested in N-series - though the N78 has been kinda appealing to me.

Some owners are willing to let go below 1k. If you don't mind to purchased used phone. Whether its Tube or N-series, They both run on symbian OS. Hence, there are similar attributes except on the input features.

Internet browsing is very very good on the 5800XM - my cousin has one and it works similarly like my iPod touch's browser.

Besides that, I like using touchscreens. Poisoned by Apple's marvel. And the buttons for SMS-ing are big. Though not tactile (as some people mention it to be) I like big keypads.

Parents dislike me buying used stuff - I wanted to get a used iPod touch (mint condition) (1st gen, last time) for RM800, but they didn't agree because they were worried about the problems that might arise after I buy it.

today kids are all like that. They cant earn but they keep spending parents money. Imagine the kids can make the money the parents would be glad you bought it. Want something show the hand out? But when ask to earn they cant. I bought all my phones myself even my first nokia 3310 i bought with my own money hahah tongue.gif Apple qwerty abit small the only reason i dislike about apple is the limitation cant bluetooth cant this cant that.

Even my nokia 5800 XM i trade my old phone then did some business to earn it myself to buy . Imagine how much research i did before buying it. My parents didnt even give me a penny

this just my opinion

IMO, its just launched around early 2009. Can justify, there's still warranty on the phone sets to your parents. Best of all, keep the receipt or get the seller to verify with Nokia Customer Center if they're really in doubt on the warranty issues.

I'm too poison by the multitouch feature by apple. Its really build for finger communicating. & I think safari is one of the best browser out there. If not because of safari's issue on flash, and no 3rd party software to integrate with GPS, I would have grabbed one. Now looking at G1. Nix FTW.

They probably live on the phrase 'you don't know where it has been before...' whistling.gif

They (and I) just don't like getting used stuff for a reason, I guess. (:

Thanks for the feedback anyway, gonna sit and wait for the price to drop. laugh.gif
