darn!!
Added on February 28, 2009, 8:08 pmi cant find the item menu (step 3)...

I will just make it simple
1. Find the desired mp3 to be your ringtone and put it into your music folder in iTunes
2. Right click the mp3 in ur playlist and select Get Info
3. In options tab tick start time and end time, put your desired time to start and end the ringtone, for example, if my music chorus part is from 0:30 to 0:50 and i wan that part as my ringtone, i will put 0:30 for the start time and 0:50 as the end time ( tip : u can put a dot (.) behind the second ; example : 0:30.5) then click ok
4. Right click the mp3 again, now select Create AAC Version
5. Let iTunes do the converting job
6. Now the trimmed mp3 will be in your
Music Library and not your playlist, find the file and drag it to desktop, it will be in *.m4a format, now delete the trimmed mp3 from your Music Library (important)
7. Rename the *.m4a file on your desktop to *.m4r, ignore any warnings
8. Move the *.m4r file into your ringtone folder ( create a new one if u want to ) and drag the file into iTunes -> Ringtones
9. Done, u can enjoy ur ringtone now, but max length is around 45 sec.
Add : Remember to untick the start and end time after making a ringtone, else the next sync to ur iphone the mp3 will be played from that start time to the end time as wrote
