hi guys/girls.... I need some advice / information about this university. the name is Paramount University of technology USA. (http://www.university.paramount.edu/)....I did browse that site and it seems to be fishy
My friend is trying to a degree... and he bumped into this university thru someone...
he's a SPM leaver but have tons of experience (20 years) in Electrical sector but in a need a degree for a some company establishment purposes.. (guessing here)

the course details is as below

Paramount Uni Of Tech USA

Degree: Not stated which sector or specialization.. just degree
Total Course Fee : RM 9500 blink.gif
Registration Fee: RM 2000
Deposit: RM 2500.. upon registration
Duration: 28 to 24 months for completion
Method of studies: Home Study Program

The company that is organizing this course is Paramount Further Education Resources.. Based in PJ

THe thing that worries me is that i don't want him to fall to a con university... basically paying something that is not worth paying.
I did receive some feed backs from some working professionals (not electrical.. other sector as well) ... they say.. a degree is just like a ticket for u to enter a job... or showing clients that u are capable in terms education....
The real thing that matters the most is how well u excel in that job or your level of expertise in that field.
So... bearing this in mind.. does really a non recognized degree is worth the cost even though u have tons of experience in that sector??

Thanks in advance

What's the point of paying money and taking time off to attend classes if the degree won't be recognized? Your friend will be back at square one.

well... i guess MOE wont recognize the Degree but will check it though .... but from anybody's experience.... does MOE recognition really matters in a company?? maybe for a fresh grad it will... but for some one who is already in a company for more than 10 years.... inability to obtain a degree may restrict him to be an engineer or to be promoted....

The program is a distance learning & home Study program... i don't think there will be any classes to be attended

it's a scam.........website was last updated sept 2007!!!

and nobody charges 2k registration fee..........unless that's all they are likely able to charge as people will find out it is a scam within the first few weeks of 'study'.........

want a degree so bad, might as well go BUY one, like some american 'universities' will give based on working experience.......some politicians get their qualification that way......

The only few university that MoHe or MQA recognizes for distance learning programs are the two open universities and their own AeU university....beyond that usually they wont recognize degrees that does not conduct any classes..
