ps3 games are region-free

basically it depends on which mode of payment you are comfortable/have access to. some people have a working credit cards to pay for downloadable contents on usa psn store, and some credit cards can only be used on sg/hk psn store. for r1 & r3, there are psn cards available to topup credits if you dont have credit card. avoid r2/r4 at all cost because those psn store do not accept malaysian cc, moreover they do not produce psn topup cards at all for those psn stores. do get r2 if you are certain that you do not need to get any expansion packs in the future, as the discs for r2 are cheaper.

I'm currently considering to buy a PS3, but I've been so out of the console scene that I'm not really up to date with the trends in the Playstation community. From what I have read and heard around, I would most likely be making a decision to buy the Malaysian version from the Sony Store, for reasons already stated here.

My question is, are there any talks / rumours / news about new revisions of the PS3 console being released anytime soon? I'm comparing it against the PSP, where they had PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 models released.

I'm aware the firmware is global across all machines, and they are always readily available, but my concern is the console of the PS3. If there would be a new one on its way out soon I may hold back on my purchase.

Hope someone could help, or at least point me in the right direction for my own research. Thanks!

No news yet of any revision of the PS3...however, there are rumors of 'slim ps3' but there are no solid announcement. I'm betting it's gonna be next year as they will want to drop the price first (I'm betting August or sep inline with the coming holiday season) and then announce thenew model to be on sale next year prob around after Mar

My suggestion is to buy the PS3 now as there are many great games already out and more coming in the near future and you are missing out!

I don't think there is a need for a rush, as I believe most of game retailers around KL still have some stocks for games that is around 2 years old. So, you will only be missing out the great games if you choose to.

I'm still digging thru last year's holiday games...and the next holiday is coming...

About pricing, so far there is no conformation from Sony yet. Only rumors. Whether u wanna believe or whether can u wait is up to you. Games wont run away. End of the year GT5 and FF XIII and PES 2010 is expected. Lets hope u have enough time for the games. Haha

Need details on your speaker, what are you using?

If it has 1 aux-input, which is currently used of course. You can get an aux-splitter. Then get 1 Y-splitter to connect your PS3 to the aux-splitter, and the other audio input to your PC.

Aux-splitter can be bought from carrefour at around RM5.

Im currently using a Y-splitter to connect my speaker to PS3. So when i use PC, i'll disconnect from the Y splitter and input it to PC. So it means i have 1 male input and 2 female (PC and PS3). The AUX splitter is 1 male and 2 female. So if i use the Speaker and connect it to AUX female, i only have 1 male connector to connect to either PS3 or PC. Doens't seems to solve the problem rite? I need a splitter with 2 male and 1 female ?

If you want to make your money worth, do check out Sony Style promotions from time to time as they might throw in lots of freebies or very nice bundle purchase. I got my second controller for free for buying a game at RM150, a free Sony T-Shirt and Towel, and a poster. The services given was great too

From what I googled just now, I saw there'll be price cut in August. Though I'm not sure is it true or not.

2. Why in XMB my output is 1080P but in game it's 720P ?

lol. we can toggle in psp because of custom firmware. get used to it pls
