Yesterday, the server was down.
"Dear Customer,

Greeting from baithost!

Baithost wishes to announce that there is a disruption of its Hosting services due to error in one of hard drive in server (SNA). Due to this, customers using (SNA) server may experience service distruption at 12:00am January 15, 2009.

In addition, customers using other servers such as myne, aries, vertigo, flexio and others dedicated server are working normally.

We expects the complete recovery of its services by 3:00am January 15, 2009. We will make further announcements on the progress of the restoration works.

We are sorry for the inconvenience cause.

Customers can call us at 1700-80-4678 or e-mail us at support@baithost.com.my for any server related problems.

Thank you."

Well, since they told me first earlier, so I guess its fine with me. But then when I checked my website there are couples of things missing. Looks like a rollback.

So I went to the baithost.com.my and clicked on the live support. Wow. All green(meaning there are people online to help me).

So I clicked the on Technical and provided my name and question. After that, I waited.

and waited.
.
.
.
.
and waited.
.
.
.
.
until it says, there are no people to help me at the moment (something like that).

so i tried to contact the sales department maybe he can help me to contact the techical department.

and again.

same thing happened.

i had to wait.
.
.
.
.
and wait.
.
.
.
until it says there are no people again.

zzz.. Baithost... this is not my first experience..

lol. I hard this kinds of things many times.

Sometimes they just get lazy and do a rollback. I am guessing they got hacked or they let a virus in unintentionally.

may i know, does exabytes provided live technical chat ? as far as i know exabytes only provide live sales and if there is technical issues, it's keep on telling to email to technical department.

i'm also hosted with baithost, they customer support are okay actualy, it's just some time when something goes wrong or they had an issues. their live support a lil bit unreachable. not sure la because of many chat request or something la..

i have encounter once, but i keep on trying and finally ..chat were accepted..myb that time i soo rajin to keep trying...

anyway, about their server down, what i heard, they hard drive corrupted and their had to do file rollback.

i think better check their blog. i seen they constantly update on the progress.

blog.baithost.com

hope this will help you.

I have tried their tech support ticket in the dead of the night.

Got replied promptly by their engineers and solved the issue within a few replies.

CONGRATULATIONS BAITHOST! YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!
Few months ago your HDD crashed and now it CRASHED again..
it has been down since 4pm. i don't care it was due to TMNET's problem or not (as you said your server only died at 9PM). Now you are telling me that the HDD crashed right after the tmnet datacenter error. To me, as a customer the fact is my site has been down for 8 HOURS! and is still down.

I've contacted your lovely customer service and you can't give me any definite answer on WHEN is the server going back up.

Best of all, your technician said that THERE IS NO RAID on the HDD. VERY GOOD..
reliability eh? (stated on your site). Looks like there's 0% reliability.

Your tech support magically goes OFFLINE when there's a problem with the server. Such excellent customer service.

I'm really disappointed with Baithost service. I thought they would improve after the recent hdd failure, looks like they are still lousy.

more than 1hour of downtime is already considered terrible. Now you are giving us more than 8 hours.
(It will be more since the server is still not up).

sorry lah.. i really cannot tahan already..
