ok. ill start off then. anyone like to briefly describe wat is biomedical science. then can describe also the syllibus and of coz where u are studying. im an a level student btw.

I'm more interested on what do you guys planning to do after graduating... I forsake Biomed for Biochem.. Due to various reasons.

graduates are welcome too....

The sake of this thread is to get biomed people together regardless of uni to form a mini community where we can exchange experience and all.

Yes, I agree what some graduates does in future does not have connection with this course at all... However, i strongly believe that this is due to individual.. What the individual think and what local community think. Hence, this thread was set up so that us, the biomed students will clear these doubts of the recent local community.

What I want to do after this degree is to get a master oversea and work hard and does research on cancer.. oversea

I agree this is not a sought after course locally, but i believe someday a change is gonna happen. If we work hard enough.

i think the point about future biomed future goes to all bio students as i have heard a lot of people working in a different field other than that of what they study.
individual thinking is the main reason as there are many jobs out there for us bio students but maybe the "job" isn't what they think it would be and the pay offered isn't high enough.
me i personally think that going into this field is not about how much you earn but what you are doing for a living. I personally enjoy biology so working with anything to do with bio is just great for me.
Lets hope the US company that is said to open a company in Penang year 2011 accepts as many bio students as possible~

yes i agree with you.. y i pursue tis field is due to personal interest not the greed for high pay. If you love your job..it can take you anywhere you wan..

i would suggest to all those studying biomed to go venture in sg, there they are much more established. instead of waiting for US companies to open their branch here, it is better to head straight to sg, as they might be even more advanced.

well, to tell you the truth.. my plan is to go australia... and yes... no point staying here anyway....

Hi. I just finished my SPM. I am seriously interested in this course. Can you please tell me more what this course is about? What are the future careers this course will lead to?

Yea...biomed is more to research base and lab work.. However make sure that you love bio and lab to pursue it.

But in order to get good career, you need to further it. Getting the degree itself only secure you as a lab assistant.

You can branch out to research, forensic, lecturer and many more actually.

People might tell you you wont get high pay and all...

BUt, if you really love bio...that shouldnt be a problem

lol..juz joking..hehe.. its a very different way of life...if wanna read more can refer to one post about biotech job or something like dat.. u wont be living the normal life others do..very enriching experience

kind of agree but because of ppl like us who leaves to other countries looking for a better future and facilities that the bio field in Malaysia is kind of low in standards.

I my self plan to stay in Malaysia to gain some experience 1st than move to other countries. wanted to go to singapore but its too close to Malaysia already so I also plan to go to Australia maybe after 2-3 years of working experience and maybe after i got my masters in some local uni.
