Doesn't matter how poor the scan. Btw, it looks great. Hope you can finish it soon.

Been meaning to try the field but always seem to find tidyness and patient to be a problem. And also no polymer sold near my place.

PS: There is a sculpting forum!?

I think the problem is that you try to do the detailing before completing the whole set. Well...unless you are making a movable arm to lift the "skirt" higher. hehe. Get the proportion right first, arm attached and the face attached to give clearer picture on how to continue from there.

the proportion work is done. here my ploblem the face is a little uneven but the hair hide that ploblem 90%. so none issue at fist but i deside to make a better head with detach hair, skirt end up too short and too tin....
upper body and arms are detacheble. hands will be attach to skirt in the end

have ta start with facial first. Why? Because it's the most detailed part compare to the rest. If u start of with the body, normally u end up more time trying to redo and rescale the face to fit the body. And as for the cloth, cloth as complex as this would be much better of using real fabric than clay. Just my thought.

Still, I have to say this. Nice sculpting on the cloth. and the body proportion (without the arm and head) is alright to me.

i did start with the head fist.. acculy no matter where i start i end up have to sand down any part to fit the scale sine it have a fix. the reason i sculpt a new head is the old one. have a bit of plaoblem.. it a none issue as it close to market standerd, but i want to push it a bit more fether then it is right now sine i find that i have improve a bit, i want to test how far i can go... the idea for the new head is that it have more solid face fiche. and one more thing the head is not the most detail part of the model. they all the say lavel of detail.

to clearify one more thing using real fabric is the worse matirial poseble in the case, fist thing fist you can not get a realistic fold for the scale that model is in .. real fabric have it limit , model at 1/6 scale have push the real fabric to the limits.

next the end product will be cast in rasin. and sine you can mold real fabric .. the that matirial is out . and you do need a solid model to be molded .

new head will fit nicely afther a few slice and refill

remabeer thesculpt is only 53mm which 2.3 ince very small. if you ask why i did not sculpt it in 1/16 or 1/6 scale ... simple it too expansive. to do it right now as my new putty is not here yet .... sad.gif sad.gif

agien the new head will have the hair as seperet pice ( still no idea how to do it with out ending slicing some part ) ( have a few idea that have not been put to the test we know later) and more ticknes , that to add more realistic to the sculpt. the head will end up as a 3 pices part.. and that will force me to sculpt both eyes not just one ( the old one just one eye as the hair cover the next)

i intend to make this a product so i have to push it as far as i can.

Added on December 12, 2008, 2:51 pmok i pull the arms off for the next scane then attach it back afthe i complite the arms if that will make you happy ( sine i am working on the head right now)

Added on December 12, 2008, 2:58 pm oh and this is what i am using now http://www.kraftmark.biz/ it expansive. but very good for detail work.
i am waiting for my shipment of magic sculpt to arrive, it a bit harder then procreate went harden and it water base .. and it much much more cheaper... at list ibe more daring on using it for the skirt.. knowing that i have 2 buket full of it ..

p.s: wasting putty is pritty much a given in this case cos you need to use a bit more then the nesesery volum some thing ... sad.gif good thig this one is cheaper.)

edit: why am i typing so much to day ..

that's a lot of research u made...anyway my bad..actually thinking about it again, that aint even real fabric they use on their model. yes, you could say they use mold for the cloth.

Anyway, bottom line is to get the sculpting right first (meaning the naked body) then go for the cloth. I have a feeling u are jumping from the foundation straight to the complex detailing.

Still loving it. hehe
