After a few month Wimax had launched, I think they had received a lot of good comment about them such as fast speed, stablization, subscription fee, and coverage area. So far, I think they're good but currently Wimax doesn't cover my area yet.

Currently I'm using Streamyx and I feel that currently the streamyx line is not stable like usual, always downline and sometimes it's slow..for the price that I give and I doesn't get what I want..

My question is :

1) Do you all face the same problem with me? (Slow network speed, downline)

2) Which one you prefer? Wimax or Streamyx?

If ur currently on Streamyx and ur area still no wimax, then gotta wait lor for at least few months..even if got wimax already don't be too excited to jump ship since its still relatively new..

im not for screamyx nor against wimax but at the moment, there's not much (reliable) choice..so im gonna wait until wimax really2 stable and well-established before deciding to jump..and hopefully by that time the rate is much2 cheaper..

Both ISPs sux.
P1 Wimax limits u 20GB download per month and when the quota is reached
they reduce the 1.2M connection to a mere 400K which is worse than streamyx.

I agree with Beegees. Both are shit.

Also wireless is not reliable as wired, but our wired also sucks hard. Both lose lose situation icon_question.gif

Another thing, when you say Wimax do you mean the P1 company ? You should edit your poll to state which company offering Wimax your refering to.

I agreed too. This P1 is really a shit. I face the same problem as Beegees.
Sometimes I even cannot get connected for 4 - 7days in a month.

Sounds like you have been using P1 W1MAX for several months now.

Are you still using it now? Any improvement in term of the connection issue you encountered?

Do give your comment here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/671303/+1220

In term of the throttling issue, how bad is it compared to Celcom and Maxis 3G which also throttle the users usage?

Wow good summary, so Malaysian = rubbish, may I know are you Malaysian? Cause you are posting rubbish, if you are also rubbish that justified your deduction is correct.

rclxms.gif

Malaysian ISP quality is not meeting the satisfactory requirement of internet users locally however, for new ISP like Izzi, Maxis, Celcom, P1 and AMAX, hopes that they can improve from their customer feedback on their service.

It's unwise to judge a service quality of an ISP based on 1 user feedback. Furthermore, how do you know the user is reliable? Not to say suspicous but Mr. Bluebird joins yesterday and only seem to be active in criticizing p1 w1max in all his posts ... hehe ... sign up for 3 months still having problem, but still continue subscription, I'm not a user yet but if 15 days trial period should be able to see whether it's positive/negative ... just cut loss and unsubscribe if it's me ...

They give u an excellent service during the 15 days trail period but after the 15 days of honeymoon, nightmare comes.
If not for the 2 years contract that i have signed, i'll unsubscribe it straight away.

That's a bold move for you to sign up 2 years contract for new service by a new isp.

But your concern is only on the 20GB maximum download right?
Unlike Bigbluebird who have 4 times disconnection every week for the past 3 months.

I think 20GB bandwidth for 1 month should be enough what? Unless you're doing heavy duty like download bunch of movie in a day..
but if you exceed 20GB bandwidth in 2weeks..but you still able to access internet just mb the speed will be slow down..don't you think it's fair for other user?

But of course, I think they should upgrade their system so that everyone can enjoy the maximum bandwidth for all the time..

if you ask me i think the 20gb download/month is fair since they did state it early on, and 400kbps is i think more than what i have usually experienced with my streamyx, lol.

i am eagerly awaiting wimax to come to my area as i am renting a room and it wouldnt be good for me to pull telephone line in a rented room. why not 3g? i hear those sucks even worse, so wimax is my choice as i want to do some light to moderate downloading and have reasonably fast speed.

are you sure those that as for 1.2mbps constant with unlimited download is just asking too much for the current market/political/infrastructure in malaysia?

yeah we can compare and say sg trumps us bad, but we are not in sg. and what p1 offer i i think comparable and maybe even better than streamyx.

if, and ONLY if, the whole 20gb P1 provide is of premium speed (meaning no throttle, no unstable, just full speed dl/ul), I think it is fair. and i will be more than happy to live with 20gb cap like this than streamyx's current "unlimited" but unstable plan.

BUT, looking through P1 site, they STILL IMPLY a Fair Usage Policy ON TOP OF THE 20GB CAP. WTF mate? with that @#$#$^ policy, it can simply means when P1 users are getting more and more, you may get capped even if you are NOT OVER the 20GB QUOTA. so what's the difference? screw it.

Hi everyone, I want to share with everyone about Wimax.
I and my friend now are using the Amax Wimax Usb Dongle Modem somewhere in Subang Jaya. The speed is extremely fast! Upload speed also good!

user posted image

The picture shows the “Speedtest” & the download speed of Wimax. We can download stuff which reaches more than 144 KB/s above and also watching Youtube at the same time with very smooth loading.

My comment on Streamyx is suck!!! My maximum speed for Streamyx only reaches 63 KB/s only; maybe some of you reach higher speed than me using streamyx. Also, Youtube very long loading….. Upload speed also not that good sad.gif Loading webpage also very long. To me Wimax solves all my Streamyx problems….

I don't think so

WiMax = IEEE 802.16
WiFi = IEEE 802.11

Different specs.
