Hi, I am new to DSLR and planning to get one to start the more serious photography experience.

I wish to get some comment and suggestion on the which model to buy.
Currently the my choices is Canon D40 and Nikkon 90D. Both are excellent camera. Despite the 90D video mode, can anyone comment on the picture quality and worth to buy between these two.

THanks.

Halo....

i'm planning to buy a camera and i just finish reading all those comment starting from March09 (pening2...byk gler..)

Type of camera: DC
Budget : +/-RM700
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Panasonic, Canon, Fujifilm
Type of photography u want to do : take picture n video
Any specific models in mind? : Panasonic FS15, Canon Ixus85IS, Fuji F100FD

so my questions r...

a)Among these 3cams, which 1 is the best to buy if i want to take picture in all environment:

1- Dark, but can't use flash (my work require me to take photo in dark area without using flash ie: inside equipment while conducting inspection)
2- indoor and outdoor - posing, holiday/cuti2 malaysia, jalan2 cari makan..
3- light in weight, easy to use and carry in my handbag
4- the best style (since i'm a girl, style is one of my priority, prefer sony b4, but low performance)- if got pink/maroon color would b better

b) can any1 advise me on the current price of each cam at lowyat?

hope u all can reply asap since i'm planning to buy da cam within the next 3days, b4 i'm going for my outstation. thanks in advance!!!!! biggrin.gif maidoari~

1. dark, cannot use flash. It will be Fuji F100FD. But dun expect miracle, ISO1600 can be very much not "usable" for printing purpose.
2. If your skill are good, any of them will do. I still recommend the fuji
3. I guess all the 3 models u mentioned are good in this criteria.
4. Ask yourself, trust ur eyes

I dun remember brand new F100fd for just RM700, should be in the range of RM900+-. F200exr is selling at RM1200

I guess you will not use manual control at all, would really prefer AUTO mode all the time, right?

Scenery, wide angle camera will help.
F100fd perhaps?

Panasonic FX48 may fit the bill, its above RM1k somehow. Fuji F200exer also above RM1k.

If it can take very good nice photos, I dun see any problem in snapping good day photos...no worry. smile.gif

IQ consider near to dslr? Well not really but its pretty good compared to other compact camera, lose to LX3 perhaps.

LX3 has better IQ for sure but limited by the optical zoom range.
FZ28 on another hand, has good optical zoom but IQ? LX3 better.

If u really need the optical zoom, get FZ28, else LX3.

Alternatively, you can go for LX3 + teleconverter. This won't be cheap....

Can you guys help me? I'm stuck between Canon 1000d and Pentax K2000d. I know that the Pentax has the better build but the AF selection is limited. Will this be a problem? Also, the Pentax has built in IS. Which one do you guys think is the better buy?

Looking for a new camera for my upcoming vacation. My old Sony T-7 just died tongue.gif My budget is RM 2.5K, currently eyeing for the Nikon D60. But I'm pretty interested in the Olympus E-P1. My aim is to take good quality photos which I'm pretty sure the D60 can satisfy, but the size of the E-P1 and the video recording seems like a nice bonus.

Any comments?

LX3 + tele converter? Not bad too.

Well again, an expensive camera doesn't gurantee good pictures,

I have the same dilemma as you 2 weeks before...

I tried out both camera, and at last i chosen the pentax... y?
- canon body is too plasticky for my liking
- i got a deal with twin lens kit, priced lower than canon (thus pentax is cheaper)
- pentax uses AA batteries, which is my preference over proprietary batt

the AF is not a big issue because you can recompose the shot by locking the AF, but one potential issue is that the viewfinder didn't show where does the camera focus, which doesn't bother me as much yet because the pentax focus system is as fast (and accurate) as the canon's. The pentax is loud in focusing and taking pictures, so no candid shot in short range doh.gif
