AMD just keep on talking while Intel keep churning in new chips. Wake up lar AMD. We need you to pressure Intel to reduce processor price. So dont die just yet.

I really hope AMD learn something from Barcelona failure, just like Intel did with P4.

well, intel pretty much double the failure by stacking 2 p4 into pentium D......................=.=

wit AMD company condition & financial situation now............dey wont b able 2 tek the fight to intel turf.
can only play the bang for bucks price ratio game.................which is good for consumers.

Indeedly, since the Deneb are compatible for AM2+ it should slightly improved AMD sales, the GPU also selling well.Anyway, lets just wait once its released to see whether AMD has make another changes. If it is on par with Yorkfield clock-clock its already enough.Core i7,Phenom FX should be ready with it/new architechture.AMD is slower than Intel..Indeedly..

Thats why I said AMD must act now instead of keep blabering about future release. Wasting time sia. Even now, Corei7 also out liao. Who knows if they will keep delaying it like Barcelona.

The Inquirer relays details about AMD's 2009 roadmap that includes a 3GHz Phenom II X4, and quad core Athlons.

On January 8th, the fanboi collective will whip out their credit cards and pay tribute to the almighty Phenom II X4 940 – a 3GHz Deneb with 4x512KB L2 cache, 6MB of L3 cache and – targeting you-know-who with its unlocked cores. It’ll be an AM2+ part and will require a whole lot of cooling but AMD is promising 4GHz on air, upwards on liquids. The multiplier-locked Phenom II X4 920 will also launch, but clocking in at 2.8GHz.These will be the first - and only - AM2+ 900-series Phenom II parts, according to the data

if true dat it can oc 4ghz on air,i'll get it & forgot bout nehalem... biggrin.gif

To think that amd able to release 3Ghz (stock clock) quad-core, and rumored to be able to do 4Ghz on air, it is quite an improvement..

ya...i like the fusion idea...
the future is fusion..
still...they need to be on par with c2d and c2q 1st then go for fusion..
i7 can be for high end and pricey configuration while the new one can taget low and med users..
i thinks that better 1st to regain their economy status...
just my 2cent

The first leaks were that the Phenom II could hit 4 GHz on air cooling alone, though we obviously wonder how extreme that air cooling is.  Well today AMD had some actual demonstrations at their gathering, and the Phenom II was able to hit 5 GHz at 1.6v by using dry ice cooling.  Dry ice is CO2, and it goes directly from solid to gas (sublimation) at a temperature of -109.3 F (-78.5C for the rest of the world) at 1 atmosphere.  So with some pretty extreme cooling (non-LN) the Phenom II does show that it has some legs in the clockspeed department.
QUOTE
Update:  The Phenom II reached 6 GHz+ at 1.9v on liquid nitrogen (boiling point -321F/-196C at 1 atm).  Testing looks to have been done on a Gigabyte 790GX motherboard that is currently available.
