By the way, why didn't you link the source of the information? Its here: http://publish.it168.com/2008/1114/20081114006901.shtml cool2.gif

tpd still high............ sad.gif
At 2.8GHz, yups I've noticed too. Guess we will have to wait for reviews to actually see the real power consumption numbers. hmm.gif

QUOTE(pikacu @ Nov 16 2008, 11:46 PM)
I prefer they renamed new Athlon as Athlon II lol
Phenom II X2 would be more appropriate, of course too may "2"s there. laugh.gif

QUOTE(pikacu @ Nov 17 2008, 12:26 AM)
Core i7 2.66Ghz is 130w...yet no one complaints lol
Difference is in "performance per watt" (if you want compare it against AMD's current top quad core the Phenom 9950). nod.gif

Not quite that easy. From the TDP ratings, I reckon that would put most low budget AM2+ boards out of reach (due to support up to 95W processors only). wink.gif

I wonder has anyone noticed that the AM2+ version is 125W TDP and the AM3 version is 95W TDP? blink.gif

Well, I'm surprised you found it! tongue.gif
That site... srsly, it's so horrible to navigate.

All MSI 790GX mobos support 140W CPUs. Should give you some decent headroom even on the RM300+ KA790GX.

920 takes close to 95W (since on AM3 it is 95W), 940 probably takes a bit more.

Dont really trust the TDP..Look Shanghai..2.7Ghz > 70W..3.0Ghz should be around 105/95W only.Anyway AMD Phenom II 940 is the 3.0Ghz edition.

IIANM, AMD will onli lauch AM3 board at the end of year 2009 or starting of year 2010... The Phenom II will be release in 2 version which is AM2+ and AM3 we can see that from the recent Shanghai Opteron launch which they are still using DDR2 and will not be shifting to DDR3 too soon...

Does it mean the IMC in PhenomII is capable of handling both either DDR2 or DDR3 interface?
That sounds magnificent, with 'hybrid mem. controller' brows.gif , or does it? blush.gif
