u oc your proc??? i think it quite high.....i also use x3 720....the highest i can get when idle is 33 celcius...

Nope, I did not overclock the bus speed. Only multiplier. Maybe i'll just stick to 3.4GHz, fast enough for everyday use. Once i get a HD5000 series later this year, maybe will try clock higher. tongue.gif

Even with stock cooler the idle temperature should not be that high.

Unless you overclock your processor to extreme levels, 55C is really high even with stock cooler.

Have you checked that you mount your heatsink properly?

ops soory, maybe i saw wrong one. I use speed fan software and it stated 55C, but when i use core temp software it shows 39C. Sorry folk! notworthy.gif

if not mistaken AMD TWKR 42 Black Edition is amd give out to amd recognized top 100 overclockers , may be some one sell it on ebay, . American really rich , now the bid already reach 12k us dollar. shocking.gif

i'm a intel user , and never use amd before , got some question about amd. i saw the amd processor normally after over clock need a 1.3 to 1.4 vCore, and how about the temperature? similar to most intel processor? and 1 more question, intel processor reach 100c will auto shut down, amd reach 75c auto shut down?

I've been trying with a new beta BIOS for my motherboard that can potentially unlock the 4th core of my 720BE processor. After setting the ACC to Auto, the BIOS shows 4 cores and after boot up to Windows Vista, it shows 4 processors in the Device Manager. However, CPU-z reported only 3 cores and Windows Task Manager also shows 3 cores only. hmm.gif

Anybody have similar experience?

Btw, my processor batch no is 0906.

I don't see any problem.Some program doesn't show actual cores or some bug.

As long as your benchmark is 4 core speed , why worry ?

You cannot compare AMD Voltage with Intel Voltage..they are very different smile.gif

About the shutdown thinggy..it is about the user settings in BIOS..AMD is no longer like before thumbup.gif wub.gif

hmm, i guess you guys heard of amd phenom II X2 550 BE or X3 720 BE can be unlocked it 2/1 core right?
now i just heard this before, and i wanna buy a 550be and a motherboard, firstly what the motherboard suitable for me, my choice is biostar TA-790GX A3+.. you guys recommend this or not?
cause i hear, all company except gigabyte and asus change thier bios so that cannot unlocked the core, is that true..
well, if true, what motherboard should i go for, i want a DDR3 and cfx mainboard, can suggest me? thanks.

there is always mod unofficial bios..go seek for it
and also the unlockable official bios is not made for unlocking..its like the bios released "accidentally" make the proc unlockable
just go for it... the biostar is good enough
and also in u want to run x4 24/7 i highly recommend u to go for x4...not the unlockable x2 or x3...
