ello guyz im really in a big trouble....i'd like 2 know, can HD crash or corrupt bcoz of wrong format steps? da case is like diz:-

lappie - SATA HD
reformat win XP

ok guyz, i reformat the lappie using SATA detected CD (win XP). then after finish formatting the lappie when windows trying 2 restart 4 da 1st time after installation it shows the option screen ( safe mode, start windows normally n bla2) then i choose start windows normally but it keep restarting again n again. when i push enter button the BSOD appear 4 juz 1 sec then windows restart automatically...the same thing happen again n again....wht does it mean? is it my HD already corrupted or crashed bcoz of something that i should not change during the format process? or is it the format process is not completed yet?

happened to me once. You got to format it low level first using dos.
make it as a second partation. Well since you said it is a lappie
i suggest you use an external casing and format it using anothe computer. Get it?

BSOD during Windows installation can be any hardware problem, not just HD ...

If you suspicious about your HD, you can always download the HD diagnosis program from the HD maker site. Use the program to check your HD health.

if the reformat stops at certain point and not continuing after sometimes, the hdd might have bad sector

if u set it at ide mode at 1st..u cannot change it back to ahci mode..
the ide mode and ahci mode is changeable.. from ide to ahci or ahci to ide
wut is different is that if u r running ahci mode, then the os must have the ahci driver for it to work, if not, it will hang or restart
same goes if u r running ide mode, but ur os have the ahci driver while u install the OS in ahci mode, it will hang or restart too..
