Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_Me_to_Hell

Drag Me to Hell is an upcoming 2009 American horror film directed by Sam Raimi and co-written by Sam and Ivan Raimi. It stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long. It is set to be released on May 29, 2009.

Plot

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse? .

Cast

Alison Lohman as Christine, the recipient of a supernatural curse
Justin Long as Christine's boyfriend
Jessica Lucas as Christine's roommate and best friend
Lorna Raver as the proud Eastern European woman who casts the curse
David Paymer as Stephanie's practical bank-manager boss

Early Buzz: Drag Me to Hell - “Vintage Raimi at his best”

user posted image

It seems like a bunch of Los Angeles-based film fans snuck into a super secret advanced screening of Drag Me to Hell. So is Sam Raimi’s return to horror the real deal? It appears so. Here is a round up of quotes from around the web. We’ll add more when they become available, so check back.

Collider: “If you’ve seen the Evil Dead movies and love them, then you’ll loooooove this movie. It’s the best movie I’ve seen in theaters in such a long time.” … “There are some moments where I just jumped out of my chair. It’s really great.” … “I wish Raimi wasn’t doing Spider-Man 4 and he just did a ton of movies like this. It’s so great to see he still has it.”

elguapo1 on Twitter: “Awesome. Old school Raimi horror at its best.”

AICN (scooper named MiscalledHobos): “This movie…oh man. I didn’t realize how much I missed having this living piss scared out of me.” … “his movie was sincerely fantastic. I love Sam Raimi and, after being turned off by Spiderman 3, I was immensely stoked to see a horror film from him. I can’t recommend it enough.”

AndrewDignan on Twitter: “Sam recycles every great gag from the Evil Dead films in service of a throwaway story. So, kind of awesome.”

Brandon Lee Tenney on Twitter: “It was A LOT of fun and most definitely vintage Raimi at his best.”

GeekTyrant: “It has been a long time since we have seen a horror movie directed by Sam Raimi, and I gotta tell you I loved it! He brought it and he brought it hard! Raimi has still got the skills and he made one of the best freakin horror films I have seen in years! It was everything I hoped it would be and more.” … “For a PG-13 movie it was pretty hardcore and in your face disgusting. There are images in this film that made me gag, and groan out load, at the same time it had me gleefully laughing with Raimi’s classic sense of humor.”

FirstShowing on Twitter: “It was great - now I just want to watch Army of Darkness!”

The Daring Adventures of Bingo TC: “A good suspenseful movie, Sam Raimi still knows how to get get you to be shocked, scared and laugh at the same time.” … “the setup for the twist ending (of course there had to be one) was a little obvious.”

16 reviews on RottenTomatoes.... and still 100% !

Sam Raimi of Spider-Man has done it ? Let's wait until 50+ reviews, then we'll get the real picture. But still, not bad at all. All horror movies (and I mean those in the 20th-21st century) barely get past 50%.

Watch out for this movie. If could be great. And its a horror flick. Horror flicks these days are always cheesy and not scary.

i'm sorry but this film looks like shit. if it were directed by rob zombie, it'd be slaughtered. i love raimi but just because it's his return to horror doesn't mean we bow at his feet.

i saw this film yesterday. it's as good as they say. expect elements from raimi's older horror movies to creep up into this film. the best part is, u dont have to scare people by showing scary faces.

Looks like sh*t ? Why so ? Some are saying Sam Raimi has still got it even after 20 years after "Evil Dead".

Yup. Fans and critics alike are liking this. Actually, I'm quite surprised as horror flicks barely get good response.

I'm actually looking forward to this movie. imdb has this above the 8.0 rating and I'm a fan of the evil dead series, this should be good.

Its Raimi returning to do what he does best, the uber campy B-horror comedy flick. Whats not to like about the Evil Dead movies? If anything this looks like teh shit
