hey I'm looking for an organisation which I have forgotten what is it.
It was on the newspaper few months ago(?)
Something about releasing turtles into the sea PENYU something?
The article had few other charity groups too.

Anybody got any idea what is it? ><

mayb the bigger one dominates the basking area... normal for animals to have territory... mayb a larger tank and bigger basking area will help...

there's another basking area, i have set up 2 for each of them but the small one prefers to be under water. the other day, i increased the water level a bit, about 3 inches, the little guy cant swim. it did a backflip underwater ohmy.gif

good thing i got an alligator snapping turtle, no need to bask laugh.gif

but changing the water every few days is kinda tiring, quite a messy eater. but watching it rip fish apart is sorta cool.

hey my turtle is same as yours, did u buy it at sunway pyramids? cos i bought mine there last may, one week after they had finished all the stock, i think they died lah, cannot finish so fast. i reseached on it and found out this turtle is called Chinemys reevesii (Reeve's Turtle) and it is very small, grow up to 12 cm.. so cute isnt it! but yeah, i bought two, one died in one week, the other is fully attacked by fungus and dunno what... i think most of those turtles had some infection cos they were shipped from Taiwan to Malaysia and this might happen... sigh... good luck wid urs ya ^^

Take very good care of it. Ocadia is quite prone to MBD if diet/husbandry requirement is not met.

Failure to comply could lead to deformation, which is not only evident in depressed carapace, but also disfigured limbs.

Added on June 9, 2009, 11:34 pm

One LFS at my place keep them with Pelodiscus.

And thus the term short tail turtles was coined LOL!
*

oh no my reeve's turtle got that! the depressed carapace and deformation... why??? i kept it properly but it keeps getting fungus all over the shell and now the bottom there is also bending in a funny way... dunno... what is MBD? how can i save my little May?
thanks

Hi guys,

This turtle was given to me by my friend around 2 years ago. Now I can't rare it anymore cause I really no time (got to work). Is there any place I can release it to?

Anyone know what is the species of it? Been looking in pet shops but I have never seen this turtle.

Appreciate any advices.
*

wow it looks big! it should be a soft shell turtle, i have a pair of babies that look like that, only smaller... it bites isn't it hehe. i think you can sell it, cos its pretty big, mayb a pet store will take it...mmm but its a nice turtle :-)

BTW I think yours is a Chinese Striped-neck turtle, (Ocadia sinensis) rather a Reeve's Turtle (Chinemys reevesii ) !! Do a close up of the face with neck streched and a underside pic and all will be clear !!

For reference they do look alike if seen from far !!
