QUOTE(leong134 @ Oct 12 2008, 04:02 PM) Did anyone got the AMD Sata Driver, because i got a new model Compaq Notebook CQ45-107AU, the processor is AMD Processor, ATI chipset. When i installing windows xp, it come out blue screen, so ican't continue.. Ah, you are using AMD processor...sorry! If you are using Intel chipset for your motherboard.... "Installing SATA Drivers without a Floppy Disk (Intel Only)" http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=414 It has the AHCI driver that you need, provided that you have one of the following SATA/RAID controller models. QUOTE These instructions will add support for the following: * Intel 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller * Intel 631xESB/632xESB SATA RAID Controller * Intel 82801GHM SATA RAID Controller * Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller * Intel 82801HEM SATA RAID Controller If you are not sure about it, use CPU-ID software to check the notebook's chipset. Then, use google or check with Intel website and look for your chipset and what kind of SATA/RAID controller model the chipset is using. I just did this for my girlfriend's sister's Acer Aspire 4315 which her brother accidentally reformatted the Toshiba SATA hard disk without making the recovery disk with Acer's eRecovery tool. You need to have the correct CD/DVD burner software to make sure your custom-made Windows CD is bootable with the provided boot image file (boot.ima). All free versions of CD/DVD burner lack the full support for bootable CD/DVD image creation. I personally use the premium-version UltraISO instead of using the free/OEM version of Roxio Creator burner software that comes as OEM offering with my laptop. QUOTE(Wonka @ Oct 14 2008, 01:29 AM) ur installing "Jack Sparrow" version windows? u could use a raid xp if u have one or just install vista on it because drivers for XP will give u headache FYI: You cannot simply install any SATA driver. SATA driver must match with the chipset that comes with your Intel or AMD motherboard. However, you can dump the SATA kernel driver installer in a custom-made Windows CD (this task can be simplified by using nLite software). The Windows setup will try to match the correct SATA kernel driver while detecting the chipset (specifically, the SATA controller). This post has been edited by eclectice: Oct 14 2008, 02:42 AM |

I needed to re-emphasis my point to avoid confusion. Recently, i read that Microsoft have made complaints against OEM manufacturer for mixing up Windows XP image meant for Intel systems but it is provided to non-Intel systems. So, think how chaotic it will be to users when getting weird crashes after installing Windows XP CD provided by OEM manufacturers. QUOTE "While the root cause of this issue is complex, it results from OEMs improperly placing a Windows XP image created for an Intel-based computer onto machines with non-Intel chipsets. Microsoft issued guidance to OEMs advising them to only load Windows XP images onto like hardware in 2004." Indeed this four-year-old guidance initially accompanied the release of Service Pack 2, which Microsoft claims suffered the exact same issues and are the result of an Intel processor driver trying to load onto non-Intel machines, sending them back into an endless reboot cycle. "Under this configuration, after the computer is upgraded to Windows XP SP2 or SP3, the Intel processor driver (Intelppm.sys) may try to load because an orphaned registry key remains from the original Sysprep image," reports Microsoft's guidance. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/196905/microso...p3-crashes.html This post has been edited by eclectice: Oct 15 2008, 09:06 PM |
