ok people...i need some help here.

Maxis CS told me that their Maxis Broadband upload and download speed can go up to 3GB (which I find it hard to believe). So is it true??? Or should I go for TM's Streamyx Combo where their download speed is 4MB and upload speed is 512kb? Which is more reliable and stable in terms of uploading and downloading speed?

Anyone can help me here?

Thank you

Yah I thought I heard wrongly too but when I ask the Maxis CS again, she told me its 3GB! hahaha...and I did chcek on Maxis' website too. They only mentioned that users may use up to 3GB of data volume per month only but did not mentioned anything about d/l or u/l speed.

So Maxis broadband is better?

"About the Fair Usage Policy?
To allow all our customers to enjoy quality browsing experience, Maxis will not assure constant connectivity if you use peer-to-peer or file sharing software. You may use 3GB of data volume per month. If you exceed this, Maxis reserves the right to throttle your speed, and for very excessive usage, to cap your usage."

Yah I do live in damansara area and so far it has been good during download (keeping fingers crossed) but yet to try the uploading. i'm just more concerned on the upload speed cause sometime i do work from home.

hhmm...and i saw Streamyx Combo is not really cheap either. For the first billing I need to pay almost RM300...they include activation fee la, deposit, stamp duty etc.

honestly, streamyx sucks.
bad service most of the time. nominal service sometimes. and very rarely u get good service.

the only problem is we have no other choice, so we stuck with it.
(for cheap alternatives of course)

Why people complain about streamyx? Because they offer such a low quality broadband and we as customers didnt get what we paid for.
U never have problem with streamyx, maybe u are the lucky one. There are few people satisfy with the service. But A LOTTTTTT people having suck internet speed included myself.

My Streamyx is automatically disconnecting at least once everyday. Thus it always interrupts my downloads. I am so pissed off by it. Though I can 80-90% of bandwidth depends on what download managers you use.

I used Maxis before and it really depend on the location. I paid RM800 for the USB modem for I 'lost' it (I stupidly lend it to my friend and he hid in trying to avoid his creditors so I could not get it back!!!) The response speed is slower compared to land line. Maybe for light-medium usage you can use maxis.

Overall I prefer land line broadband. The experience is overall better.

About the bolded parts.
The bandwidth u can use is 3gb per month (which means ur upload+download = 3gb) where streamyx is unlimited.

u think its unlimited. but if u read the terms n conditions properly, there is a clause hidden in there somewhere.

i think some forummer pointed it out.

well even if it is limited i would say it would be at least more than 20gb per month.

I have been downloading some movies totaling around 15gb or more this month and my speed just stay the same around 100kbps+ -

How about when u use more than 20gb?
will maxis just stopped your line or balance brought forward?
for streamyx, 50-80gb per month is not a big deal, provided u have a "good and stable" connection.
