GoogleMap (with GPS) works with countries that have iPhone 3G launched.
So... do not expect something else that not yet available here.

if u highly needed GPS to support driving guide, it fails u for sure.

@ sugen

have you ever tried driving with your aifontrigi whilst the GPS is at action? the battery drains faster than the monsoon drain flowing to the ocean.

if you do need a GPS assisted device, kindly opt for a garmin et cetera instead

That is y..I never though that it works in this way.I really not agree v the saying that because u r using it in a not supported country.By right a GPS should works regardless where u r in the globe.Like the called ID issue in iPhone. That is nothing to do v which country u r in.Rather it is more on how the apple programer write the search matching critirial. The logic is to match the phone number regardless the +6.What is the point that apple need a full matching?Again,is a logic issue

GPS location detection uses WiFi + Cellular Towers Transmission things.... so do you think logically, can APPLE simply use M'sia Cellular Towers without any permissions or agreements ?

So, I think that is the reason why.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

No,there is nothing to do v legal issue. That is the nature of any Assisted-GPS works. It is the map issue rather than a GPS issue.U can test it by visiting maps.google.com on your PC,then specify your current location. Then ask for driving location from point A to B.It will return d same error result that u c in iPhone. So is confirm is the google issue. There is no legal issue on A-GPS works,if there is then y it still can locate your current location rite?It is just thatthe maps driving direction feteas is not ready in Malaysia

Iphone GPS is still kinda pointless at the moment. No turn by turn navigation, and need to use 3G to view map which is going to be costly. Hope to use 3rd parties like Garmin or Tom tom in Appstore one day.

for me, iphone gps is just an extra tool for me to find road, it not really like garmin to bring me to there, but i just wanted to know where i am, and how to get to my point by browsing the map.

On that, i created my own offline maps from cydia, and covers KL , PJ, KLANG. although i dont know why i cant get the last zoom( 64x, where it shows the precise roads name) but it still helpfull for me to use around,

If anyone interested, i will upload it to somewhere for dl, it about 63mb, and anyone can teach me get the last zoom from google maps, pls do tell me.

Added on October 6, 2008, 9:29 amThere is a turn by turn navigation. But it does not has driving direction from point A to B only.. You can test it out when u r in your vehicle, turn on your iphone GPS.. The blue dot indication will move turn by turn along v your vehicle when u move..
Because of no driving direction, thus i also found it useless at the moment..
