HOME --- > Data Rate : 1024 / 384 kbps
SOHO ----> Data Rate : 1536 / 512 kbps

download from rapidshare
HOME -> 109KBps (MAX)
SOHO -> 160KBps (MAX)

I have 2 line which is home & soho and both 1Mbps, but the SOHO more faster than the HOME

can some one explain why the connection is like that even though the connection is the same 1Mbps

Are u testing on the same telephone line?
Downloading the same file from the same server?

Probably its a miscapped, anyway soho and home package are the same just price different whether u believe me or not.

no,

soho phone line + soho 1Mbps package = max download 109KBps

home phone line + home 1Mbps hope away package = max download 160KBps

why the speed different?

Actually ....... This is a technically mistake of the technician. package 512 kbps can get 2mbps or either 2mbps get 512kbps sometimes. Depend on the location also

Like i've said....

Phoneline quality affect the signal and capping of the account also affect the download speed.

Both of the telephone line is from the same DP Box and same Telekom Cabinet

1. login to BILLION modem (http://192.168.1.254/),
2. go to section (Status > Device Info )
3. The Result is like this

SOHO Result
---------------
.............................Downstream..........Upstream
SNR Margin :.................24.5.................22.0 db
Line Attenuation:........... 0.0..................12.0 db
Data Rate:....................1536.................512 kbps

HOME Result
---------------
.............................Downstream..........Upstream
SNR Margin :.................36.5.................31.0 db
Line Attenuation:........... 33.5..................8.5 db
Data Rate:....................1024.................384 kbps

RESEARCH TRIAL shakehead.gif
--------------------
SOHO login + HOME phone = 110 KBps (MAX)
SOHO login + SOHO phone = 160 KBps (MAX)
HOME login + HOME phone = 110 KBps (MAX)
HOME login + SOHO phone = 160 KBps (MAX)

My findings is the speed is referring to the Phone line so even though you have 4Mbps steamyx login ID and you use to your HOME line the connections is still the same but if you have 512Mbps steamyx login ID and you use it to SOHO PHONE LINE ( before that using streamyx 4Mbps) you connection will as same as 4Mbps speed.

Just want to verify here, i heard from somebody, if the telekom Man made mistake during jumper your phone line to high speed phone line (2Mbps) and your can get the connection speed without register the package? hmm.gif

i thing i agreed with stephenrave opnion nod.gif

You're just lucky that someone capped your line wrongly. Now , don't be greedy and ask where can I get this sort of thing. Its against your ISP EULA and Lowyat.net isn't the place for you to 'intro' people who would uncap your lines , etc

I'm not pointing fingers , but generally I am saying out that its illegal to do such things. I am advicing to the rest on the 'how do I uncap my line'. Anyhow , your SOHO Line has been miscapped by the TM Technician , I guess instead of setting it to 1Mbps , he set it to 1.5Mbps. Just consider it to be a blessing from TM - . Account capping will be done in two ways , one is through imposing a hard limit on the account itself and the other one is in the DSLAM itself. You could have a 4Mbps account but if the DSLAM syncs only at 1Mbps , you'll be enjoying 1Mbps only , same case goes for when you have a 1Mbps account and a 4Mbps line , then you'll be getting at most 1-1.2Mbps (it wouldn't exceed more unless TM made a mistake in your account)

Every single damn streamyx users paying a 1mb SOHO or Home account will get 1.5mb account capped, its just your port capped differently..that's all.

yaps thats truth, i already tested with my friends login id (Streamyx 4.0Mbps) in my SOHO line, the MAX connection is still 160KBps

So that means,
1. i can terminate ( SOHO login & HOME phone line) and leave the SOHO phone line
2. Use the 1Mbps HOME login & SOHO phone line to get the 1.5mb access

just wondering if i terminate the SOHO login ID, is it have side effect to the SOHO phone line (TM will capped the phone to NO STREAMYX ACCESS after i terminate my SOHO Streamyx)

NOTE - What we discuss here is NOT about 'how do I uncap my line', just for experimental only & to use the blessing from TM because they give me 1.5Mbps instead of 1Mbps

i think u start reading how ADSL works.

u can't terminate soho login or home phone line. you will lose the DSL service "a/c are tie to the number"
