Not sure. I know that AoC stop your subscription immediately upon cancellation (they didn't wait for the period to be over) but WoW does let the subscription period run.

You might have to send them a note about it though just in case.

I had a wonderfully smooth registration haha, I didn't even have to key in my credit card details to verify.

Because I already had a DAoC account, they just asked me to key in WAR's cd-key and I'm in.

Hi guys, im thinking to start this game, but im need to know some general information first.

How's the ping like? which range is best for this game? 218? or 60?

How much is the CD? ,i also heard, there's a free 30 day subscription bundled with the CD, but can only be activated upon subscribing. Is this true?

This game more to grinding or more to questing?

The gameplay/graphics looks pretty much like WoW =/,

Actually... in the first post, you will find most of your questions answered so if you really took a look at it in the first place, you would have found out:

- How much the CD cost which is RM130 (for SE) and RM299 (for CE).
- That this game is about RvR not about grinding and questing though they do have quests and something new called a 'public quest' system. Of course like any MMO, there is an amount of "grinding" but it's not as extreme as some games like Lineage 2. Like any MMORPG out there, there's Quests. I've never seen a MMORPG that doesn't have quests. sweat.gif

If you have had any experienced playing any overseas MMO, it would be safe to say that the ping will be 200-350ms ping unless the server is in Malaysia then you would have something as low as 50ms ping. Even if you do not have experience in MMOs, there's a topic in this section called Latency in Warhammer Online.

If you have played WoW then you would know that the graphics look nothing like WoW. The Art Direction is totally different. Also, WoW has general and atmosperic lighting. Lighting on characters and shadows aren't seen in WoW's which is some round thingy.

WoW (only) has general lighting and Atmospheric lighting. The lighting see on charcter models and shadows do not exist in WoW even at Max setting with top of the line graphics cards. WoW does have pretty good atmosphere designs as well as art direction but it style is quite different. In WoW at max setting, the textures and skins are mroe crisp. Shadows are still just blobs regardless of lighting source etc.

Have a look and compare for yourself... I really do not see any similarities.

There are reasons as to why no one is bothered about answering your questions.
1. It's something right in front of you and you don't bother looking at it.
2. They're all in game now killing each other
3. They don't know the answer

I hope that I've answered all of your questions...

Someone, please go compile and create a FAQ topic. sweat.gif

WarO is still very shiny and new so information will be short.

I think u just have to stomach it and read up quite a bit, even if it's a lot of pages and info.

The latency is like any other MMO : dependant upon quality of the line, server population and capability of your graphic card. With the graphics, I just choose the setting "fastest framerate" and let it sort itself out for me.

There's no trial period yet becoz I suspect it's not a priority for them yet. Priority is making sure that the servers are stable enough to play and getting rid of as much bugs as possible.

Best is to go find out which cybercafe has the game installed and try it out there.

Added on September 26, 2008, 8:11 pmHaving said all that, I've played on lines that said 128 kbps, 160 kbps, 256 kbps and 512 kbps. If the node itself is jerky, it will be jerky. Just redial up until u get an IP that works for u.

Peak hours are bad on Oceanic servers atm. But they've upgraded the servers this week that there's not much queues anymore. But if u play 10 pm onwards, it's easier.

My 2 cents:-

Latency: Being a melee class, I find the 60.x IP range to be the most reliable ip atm. I did find the 218.x to be better speed but the lag spike is worse to the point i get dc. For some reason i cant get 218.x IP anymore. Both 118.x and 124.x are too laggy for me atm.

Graphics: Played wow since beta, and i can tell you war graphic is a lot different if not better. WoW graphics is based on cartooney theme, where as War is more towards realism. The environment detail and lightings are a lot more detailed than WoW. You can see more details on character's skin i.e. wrinkles, the hair, scars etc. Overall you will find War is more taxing on your computer. I never lagged in BT or MH but i do get it in War.

Hi guys,

Thx for all your replies, it really helped. Thx alot,

Well, the reason i asked all these is that, you all know how bad it is playing mmo's when the server is located in EU or US. I've played lots of MMO's in the past(im sure everyone has too), and dont really want to waste my money on things like these, unless its very promising.

When i say promising, its because I've played Tabula Rasa, awesome game, but ping totally unplayable, Even though going through VPN is a little better, but still lag spikes.

Guild Wars was shit to me, questing questing, Lvl20 max. and that was it. Died off pretty quick. Dungeons & dragons, LOL where should i start?

Anyways, the graphics is much better than wow. However i do hope the gameplay issn;t like Wow, I hate wow tongue.gif

WOw is a job tongue.gif, not a hobby. Haha!

Okay, thx alot for the info, i'll be trying this game, and hope to see all of you soon.

Added on September 27, 2008, 5:00 pmi've just got the game! lets' see how good it is tongue.gif

*blood hell lowyat is so jammed up, took me almost 3:30hours just to get the game

I've been playing MMOs for quite a while (that includes playing MMOs like Shadowbane on a dialup) and all I can say is that the bad ping is mainly due to our screwmyx.

In MMOs, US servers always give about 300ms while EU servers give more than that. That's how it has been for years. If you want good ping, play a game which is localised.

Guildwars is about PvP. The questing was just a way for you to explore the storyline and gain good 'lewt' plus the game didn't require any monthly subscription fees. Maybe you're a grinder who plays all the time... I only actually finish 2 GuildWars campaigns (Prophecies and Factions). Never completed Eye of the North and Nightfalls. sweat.gif

I kinda enjoyed DDO. Played it from Closed Beta right to a few months into retail but stopped due to work. The quests was different, the people were nicer, combat was different compared to most MMOs and it was mainly about role playing.

Didn't bother with Tabula Rasa because I didn't think it would come close to being as epic as Planetside where in one battlefield alone, there can be as many as 500 players killing each other.

Anyway, grats on getting the game.

yea rite..just blame everything on streamyx...the ping when i played from adelaide and in kl is the same with wow
what can u expect a server that's thousands on miles away....
if a game server is hosted in kl using tmnet backbone and outsiders complain about ping, blame on streamyx also rite

Wow nice tone in there.

Sure you cant expect a server that is far from us to have good latency but with the optimal latency, TM bandwidth couldnt perform what it was provided. Instead, it worsen up the situation. Back in the good days where US servers is 350ms, EU server is around 400ms, AU/JP/KR servers at 65 ~ 100ms.

Look at what we have at present? 500ms, 800ms, 300ms. If you do not blame the provider, who should you blame? If the ISP could maintain the optimal latency, there wont be a problem and there wont be spikes and timeouts.

In MMOs, latency isnt a problem but you will later notice a second or two delay on your actions. Higher latency will result even longer delay. Same goes to FPS games.

Conclusion : latency can be a fun killer if ping goes too high.

i never blame tm net hell some times i get 300-400ms pings in bt during some nites in wow, even when i used to also play in adelaide(i lived in rose park XD) with good connection i had bad delays but my connection was sooo fasttt.....it was amazing how fast a youtube video loads.....i dont even have time to make a maggi mee to watch a move from www.watch-movies.com at that times...
