May i add? It's true that they are avoiding 50 mil summon from mcmc, and none of this would be happen if the awarding of so called wimax licence is carried with sole purpose to establish malaysia in term of implementing wimax for the benefit rakyat, not just for namesake (among 10 country in the world!?). i think mcmc should award wimax licence to digi, this way the playing field would be even, look how they managed to be an innovative in terms their service (1st in malaysia in almost everything except 3g) and turn gsm communication into an affordable market. asiaspace is fulltime contractor, they would need 1 full year to building a team, test and roll out the service. YTL on the other hand is just loaded with asset and cashflow, but didn't quite ready when mcmc awarded the licence.

Similar to most countries in the world, WiMAX licenses are not awarded to major mobile telecommunication vendors.

Good thing is that it can create better competition as well as job opportunity in the industry.

WiMAX is complementary to 3G, so telco companies with 3G shall not be qualified to get the license else it will be a conflict of interests and impossible for the companies to be able to offer competitive services to the subscribers.
