it is not advisable to play mkv files using under powered pc like p3,p2,p1,celeron or any thing below p4. but for avi(xvid) is ok bcoz it can be played. rmvb also is the same like mkv, don't play using under powered pc as well.

Kindly state your reasons why it is not advisable to play mkv files with computers having processors lower than the P4?

Umm.. I don't really like big files for movies or dramas cuz I'll be deleting them soon..
But not for music performances. I hardly visit youtube for any.
I love HD vids for musics. ^^

Movies/Dramas = RMVB with medium/high quality maintained is fine
Music Performances = AVI/MKV/TP

RMVB for the OKOK quality and file size.
AVI/MKV/TP for the high quality video.

MKV with H264 at SD resolution is still playable using P3 as least
Worst come to worst have to use CoreAVC

Same with you, sometimes to the extent of converting files to 3GP to save space. doh.gif

for download for sure is rmvb due to its smaller file size.

for quality, i will opt for MKV! i have some movies in MKV 1080p and 720p and the quality rocks hard! Well the file size sweat.gif What a great pleasure watching in Full HD, especially CG films. I watched appleseed ex-machina 1080p on 42" LCD tv at office, great satisfaction!
