Google Tackles Microsoft In Launch of Browser

Google Inc. plans to introduce its own Web browser, the latest twist in its battle with Microsoft Corp. over key Internet technologies.

In a posting on a company site Monday, Google indicated that a test version of the software, called Chrome, would be available for download on Tuesday. It said the software is designed to make it easier and faster to browse the Web. The product will be offered on an open-source basis, meaning others can modify the software code.

the site i think has significant improvement is yahoo mail.

man it feels laggy in FF3 and IE7/8 when i have 700 something emails in my inbox.

but not in chrome. google really made a good job at this javascript speed improvement.

Expect speed increase in heavily ajax coded websites.

haha. statcounter doesnt recognises google chrome. it state safari 1.2 for it. safari's rendering engine, webkit.

Pure web page rendering speed has nothing to do with the web site's traffic afaik, so what you're seeing is the real deal.
