Tell them you want to to terminate the card. When they ask why, say there are lots of other free for life credit cards available. They will be begging you to keep it and waive the fees. When I had a Citibank card, I never paid annual fees for a single year. You just have to be vigilant and hardworking enough to call them up every year when the annual fees are due.

If you use your card at least twice a month, call/mail them and they should wave the annual fee.

If you want to take credit card never apply for CITIBANK bcos their CS damn sucks nowdays. I called up for annual fees waiver but declined then asked me to take up personal loan RM3000 x 9% interest /annum then they can waive my annual fees when I said I want to cancel the card she said you settle you current bill first then call again to cancel. See how nice their service nowdays.

Why so troublesome? Have to call to waive. Have to use how many times a year to waive?

If you are a professional or graduate, just to to CIMB and apply for their Direct Access card. No such problem whatsoever. Free for life. No string attached.

I tried to waive my citibank giant card. They told me exactly the same thing. Really sucks. Definitely will cancel this card if it wasn't for the fact that i have two supps attached to it. After i apply supps on other banks, I will boycott citibank and cancel my other citibank cards too.

i had called CTB just now, yes same things they told me... they offered me 3 options in order to waive the annual fee (rm180.00)...

1) apply a personal loan above rm1000
2) purchase an item with rm1000 and convert it into flexi payment which apply certain interest rate
3) convert my current credit card to another card within CTB

i rather cancel it... i have a credit card with MBB, free for life no annual fee applied... much more easier...
