anyone know where or how I could test the speed of a server's connection using command line?

Obviously the linux server do not have gui nor browser. So, how do I test the speed of the internet connection??

you can analyze the connection speed using trace tools or ping...

Download a large size file from a known direct link will do, you could use wget.

aiks..those normal methods...don't have any commandline tools to test ah?

wget, axel -- both are command line file downloaders (axel having the capability to use a few threads).. use it to test the bandwidth

remove the -q option. q is for quiet
