as you know malaysia well know lightning prune, i learn my lesson since 10years ago, by getting right stuff to protect right electronic equipment.

but still there is some of electronic equipment left unprotected or u never thought of getting fry tongue.gif

is not wise to buy "lightning surge/isolation" to cover every inch of house. even the best "lightning surge/isolation" there still 0.01-1% chance direct hit from lightning cry.gif

previous i been told by someone, is possible to make claim PC/Notebook/Celling fan/Fridge/TV that fry by lightning.

but when i ask how to claim ? none of them seems to have a proper guide to make claim.

they even mention the claim would be very small, so it not wise to claim rclxub.gif that was 5-7 year ago.

anyone have experience submit claim(household insurance) for electronic equipment, that fry by lightning ?

what the best insurance
-lenient policy
-can submit claim with/without receipt
-claim is fast less than 2-4 weeks

how they reimburse you
-check
-cash
-product
-???

if the electronic equipment can be repair, how to make a proper claim ? i'm very sure everyone is interested on this.

is there insurance cover power surge too ?

what I'm interested How To Make Claim, not which product that protect my equipment.

I've been using Belkin SurgeMaster series of surgeprotectors. I've got 4 units (2 home series four ports, and 2 gold series eight ports), and I'm very happy with it. Fell in love with it because of it's lifetime warranty, lifetime insurance (up to MYR25,000 depending on model).

All my friends have followed me and used the Belkin SurgeMaster too, and most of my customers also do the same. I have had a few occasions where my friend's home series (4 port) didn't protect his product (laptop, motherboard, psu etc). he managed to claim RM2,000 for the laptop alone, and a few hundred more for the others, so I have to say the insurance is very good.

As for claims, they take about a month, which might seem a bit long, but they always tell you to go buy a replacement (of similar value to your current item) first, then they'll reimburse you (within limits lah).

Claims are paid to you by cheque. And you'll have to fill out a form when you submit the claims. If you don't want to go there personally to deliver your item, they'll send a courier to pick it up from you (no charge). flex.gif

Anwyays, I love Belkin as always, so very satisfied with their stuff wub.gif

Cheers,
Kinson

but is priceless if important data gone together with harddisk drive...
look like quite disadvantage for belkin if belkin users can claim thousand ringgit from them...
wondering it the equipment cost RM10k+ and totalled... will belkin 100% allowed customer to claim?
or i have a damaged equipments earlier and buy a new belkin later, but i may still able to do the claim from belkin? tongue.gif

as i know, have a LYN forumer's using belkin and cal-lab, lightning striked from power line...
his astro max and xbox360 burnt by lightning because belkin failed to protect...
but his astro, amp, dvd and TV survived because cal-lab protecting, that unit used 6years but still working fine...
touch wood that he managed to claim the repair cost from belkin depending on the receipt, around hundred bucks...
now he bought few cal-lab units again to protect his fridge, microwen, and another household equipments...
and swap the damaged unit to working unit just cost him RM25...
RM25 enough for petrol, time and hassle to do claim from belkin...
