To avoid further confusion on this issue in future, this thread has been created to give a brief explanation on the term sub team and also for listing the members of each sub team. smile.gif

A sub team is simply a group of PCs/persons running the Folding@Home clients configured with the same username with the Team ID still using 2999 (Folding@Malaysias Team ID). This would allow you to have a group of PCs with combined statistics to a specific username and still contribute points to Folding@Malaysia.

However, by doing it this way, you would not be able to see individual statistics for each PC listed on stats sites as they would all be added together without any indication who actually contributed.

There is absolutely no coercion for Folding@Malaysia members to form or join sub teams as it is practically alright to be folding by your own self, so dont be worried if you dont have a sub team or belong to one. wink.gif

And heres the current sub team list of Folding@Malaysia in alphabetical order with representatives you can contact if you would like to join in brackets (click on representative's name to PM him/her):

Almostthere (almostthere)
c9(c9)
Evogenix (Evogenix)
GRexer (GRexer)
HenryLow (HenryLow)
LinuxSIG (net_cow)
tanghm (benlye)
TeamUTP (spa[w]ntaneous)
TehTarikOnline_Team (coolkid)
Universities_of_Malaysia (neosaint99)
vbNooB (vbNooB)

If you have any further queries on sub teams, please post at this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=76678 and not here. Hope to get cooperation from members on this matter and user posted image

Cheers!

Note: If you have a sub team and I have not listed here, PM me or reply to this thread with your team members list and Ill edit this post accordingly. smile.gif

To keep this thread clean and not cluttered, please post only once and edit your post accordingly when needed. This would help newcomers to go through the list of sub teams easily if they are interested in doing so. smile.gif

Team vbNooB

Founded 25th March 2004, our team consists of mainly overclockers. Here's the list of our active folding members. Do let me know if I left anyone on the list, or if you're interested to join our star studded line up wink.gif :
  • vbNooB
  • kucingfight,
  • Holick[#^PenG^#],
  • DrJackal,
  • clawhammer,
  • gtghost,
  • steven437

About us:
Currently working as a programmer, I have a few PCs folding under me. They might not be fully utilized (100%) due to the nature of our work (compiling programs). I also have one at home folding with an AMD.

kucingfight is an active elite forummer currently studying, contributing mostly in the overclocking section. He has a mixture of a few AMDs and P4s folding under him.

Holick[#^PenG^#], IIRC, owns a cybercafe. There's where most of his firepower come from. Pretty nice guy.

DrJackal, an avid forummer. Lurks everywhere. Sold him one of my mobos. Nice guy too.

clawhammer, moderator in Overclocker's United forum, pretty much inactive in LYN now I think. Not sure if he's actively folding (with a notebook) as well. Of course, he's a nice guy too, met him a few times and taught me loads of stuff.

gtghost, my bro. Active and trading in the Anime subforum. Has one or two PCs folding 24/7 in his office.

steven437, don't know much about him. PM-ed me one fine day and team-ed up with us.

There's also a few forummers who PM-ed me and wanted to join but never really did confirm things. yawn.gif

Team c9 thumbup.gif

This team was esatablished on March 2004. It all started as a single folder, with only a p3 folding 24/7 at that time. The team started to grow when I become addicted like hell on May 2004. Since then I started to collect/buy a few systems just for the sake of Folding@Malaysia. After that, I started to recruit forumer and my relative to join me folding (eg. snyy). Well, they do help me a lot but then they're not really consistent and I was back folding myself alone with all my systems (around Nov). After that, arj wanted to join in my sub-team. So why not rite? smile.gif

Anyway, for more information. We have our own team thread. Check it out here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=138003

Team Almostthere

Recently established in an impromptu manner over a late night discussion with my partner in crime. Other folders wanting to join us are most welcome to do so. We're here just to do our bit for humanity and we aim to be in the top 50 of the ranking folders (individual/sub team) in Folding@Malaysia. I've personally been folding since August 2004 almost 24/7 (due to the occasional overclocking corruptions and so forth). At the moment comprises of the following who are generally overclockers who feel that all that speed can be used for a good purpose if we're not utilising it 100%:

1. almostthere
- Athlon XP Mobile 2.5 Ghz on watercooling (Since August 2004, 24/7)
- Athlon XP 2600+ Desktop on stock cooling (Since March 2005, 12/7)
2. uzairi
- Athlon XP Desktop 2.3 Ghz on watercoooling (Since February 2005 , 24/7)
- Pentium M 1.5 Ghz (Laptop) (Since March 2005, 12/7)
3. Joseph Hahn
- Athlon XP Desktop 2.3 Ghz on air (Since May 2003, but joined us on April 2005, 24/7)
4. AllNGap
- AMD XP Desktop 2.2 Ghz on air (Since April 2005, 24/7)
5. wanek
- Athlon XP Mobile 2.7 Ghz on air (Since March 2005, 24/7)
6. bijans
- Athlon XP Mobile 1800+ 1.53 Ghz (Laptop) (Since March 2005, 12/7)
7. tidusthecoolest
- Athlon XP Desktop 2.0 Ghz on air (Since March 2005, 24/7)
8. otherwise
- Athlon 64 3200+ on watercooling (Since March 2005, 24/7)
9. khazz
- Intel Pentium 4 2.0A Ghz on air cooling (Since April 2005, 24/7)
- Athlon 64 3200+ on air cooling (Since April 2005, 24/7)
10. Non Lowyat members

Team 2999

Sub Team: Universities_of_Malaysia

Created by NeoSaint99 - 08 April 2005
from University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN, Kajang, Selangor)

Just created this subteam
Been folding since Y2k
I created this subteam with the intention of getting our universities and their students to join up
I think you all would agree with me when I say that the PCs in most university computer labs in this country (and that of other countries too...) sit idle for most of the time
And for the rest of the time, students use them to surf the net or do word processing

I am currently proposing; i.e. trying to persuade; my uni to run this software on it's PCs
If all the unis in Malaysia did this, it would be a MEGA contribution to the cause
In my uni, we have about 500 PCs....much of those are P4 3GHz 256MB systems
Together, they would be like more than 1THz!!!
(going on the conservative side assuming not all are 3GHz)

Hope all you students (and anyone who is interested, for that matter...smile.gif) out there will chip in, join up, spread the word...anything...hehe
Talk to your university admins
Enlighten them to the benefits of Folding@Home

If you choose to join this subteam, please email me at universities.of.malaysia@gmail.com and let me know you are joining

Thanks alot!!!

Hello

I'm a newbie in folding, just started about 4 days ago. I have created a new team called Bumicomp_Folding@Sabah.

I hope to instill more awareness about folding to my mates in Sabah.

Currently running 4PCs which folds 24/7. I hope to have more pcs up and running as I've got surpluss of PCs.

I will spread the words here in Sabah and hope we can contribute our PC power for the improvement of mankind.

As I am new to all these, I'm sure to ask lots of questions about folding which I'm not aware off. I'm pretty sure fellow LYN forumer will be more than happy to assist.

Cheers from Land Below The Wind

When your classmate died 1 day just before the cancer's vaccine is out, they know what's the "ganjaran" for folding. Maybe if they fold the vaccine is out earlier then he/she no need die so early. xD
