Yeah i guess that's what will happen. D300 still has E-3 at about the same price point though. With A700 and 40D being so cheap i dunno what will drag new people to buy a D90 instead. laugh.gif

d90 should be below rm3k.. but if it's true with video recording, maybe it can reach rm3.5k

but 40d body is rm3+++ already, if that's the case meaning it'll compete with 40D rather than 450D. Which bring D300 to its own class .

Nikon would priced its product higher than Canon's competing line-up.

Nikon marketing strategy is - offering more feature, distinguish the product, persuade consumer into willing to spend more.

For eg. D70 (priced higher than 300D), D80 (higher than 350D & 400D), D200 (higher than 20D & 30D), D300 (higher than 40D).

I'd feel jealous...

I don't mind having an extra feature in a DSLR.

So much more convenient.

But I have got this question in mind.

While recording the video (if really has the feature), one wont be able to zoom in or out cause focusing will be off. Cause even in normal live view mode it will need to focus using contrast detect.

Unless they've perfected sony's live view mode? Can continuous AF when zoom in and out lens? Then this would be pretty awesome.

Exactly what I was wondering when the rumours said about video recording. Made me wonder. smile.gif And zooming the lens in and out and focusing would cause the mic to pic up the noise too. Maybe not for focusing if the lens has SWM lah. laugh.gif

I see GPS. nice. smile.gif

I think the only limitation would be zooming...

The gps probably needs a external device...

Would that small GPS cover enclose such a port in the D80? (12pin connector on D2/3 series)

Or it's gonna need a proprietary connection...

Maybe soon the entry level will also have 12MP. laugh.gif Whole lineup of 12MP camera except D3x. doh.gif You think the D90 uses the same sensor as D300 ?

I would assume so like how the D200 and D80 shared the same sensor.

I dun quite like the combination of 12mp with recording, it would make it like a hungry monster eating 8gb out like nothing for those who often shoots in RAW! shakehead.gif

It's apparent that video recording would only be up to 640x480 VGA resolution. That might solve the size issue.
