Broadband provider
ISP/package: Tmnet Streamyx
Location: Tmn Seputeh
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: No

Personal equipment
Modem: Aztech DSL605E
Router: 3Com 3CRWER100-75
Firewall used: -

Problem details
First occurence of problem:
Probably 3-4 weeks back

Problem frequency:
It occurs quite frequently at least 5 times daily

Problem description:
I have a problem with my DSL light blinking which results in a really unstable internet connection. I can see the DSL light showing it is redialing and sometimes it takes up to 10 mins to get a steady DSL light again. I have no problems with my download/upload speeds, I can get 160 kbps on my 1Mb package. The problem seems to occur more frequent during "peak internet hours" eg. after 5pm

I'm not sure what is causing this problem, so far I have tried doing... but none seems to solve the problem.
1. Disconnect and power down router and modem
2. New phone cable for modem
3. Connect with/without splitter
4. ipconfig /flushdns
5. Connect modem on different phone jack

Here's a picture of my SNR margin and attenuation...

Thanks for the prompt reply. I hear a bit of background noise and have asked the Telekom technicians to fix the problem but he say the problem is with my house's phone line. The noise is slight and I would certainly like to try other solutions before replacing the phone lines. smile.gif

i know a few people with a same problem. it's usually caused by a high line attenuation on the copper phone line loop at your place( as shown by DS line att. and DS margin). possibly only solution as far as i know is to replace it with a thicker and higher grade. just curious though is this a new place

Hey, thanks for the reply. My place is quite old, I think at least 30 years. I live in a apartment, so replacing the copper wires may not be feasible.

If that's the case, how come my neighbors aren't having any problems?
