EEE PC 1000(H) owner, do you guys have problem where the battery charging is not consistent? Sometimes it will charge to a certain percentage and stuck there and sometimes it won't charge at all but sometimes it's ok....normally after you shut down the laptop and charge, it should be fine....anybody experiencing this?

Depends on your usage. Sometime if you are using the laptop, it might draw alot of power, so you are using power as you charge, hence the slower charging speed or sometimes it wont charge at all

If you off it, it'll charge much faster

My 1000h is 5 days old. I have tried to charge it the whole day but the red charging light doesn't change to green or it doesn't off to indicate full charged. I am trying to exhaust the battery and charge and discharge it a few times. Let's see whether it will gain full charge after this.

It won't turn green....green means it's on battery, it's orange if it's with AC Adapter. My problem is the percentage charge won't increase after certain point....I have changed the battery with Asus and still same...

Maybe we should refer to the manual. Lets see if there's anything regarding this. My unit does behaves the same yours. Green and blinking when on battery and red and blink when on AC adapter. Once it is fully charged, it will stay red consistently.

Eee PC 1000H will have better heat dissipation due to the larger form factor. Larger means better allowance for ventilation. However, it is using a micro-HDD so that component will emit more heat than Eee PC 901's SSD. If you're very particular on heat dissipation, then probably MSI Wind will be a better option.

Actually every laptop/netbook is warm. After all they have to dissipate heat somewhere. A good laptop will have good heat insulation as to not let heat escape to surfaces where the user is operating on like the keyboard or touchpad area. The Intel Atom is actually a hot chip due to its very small surface for heat exchange on its die. Core Temp programs usually reports it in the range of 50-65 Deg C. But on the outside, its relatively normal except for the heat vents. Hot air is pushed out from there.

Boot time for my Eee PC 901 is around 20 seconds. Pretty fast in my opinion. Shut down is slightly more than that because I had my antivirus do a shutdown scan. Mine is the standard installation with minor user optimization here and there.

My 701 and 900, when fully charge, the red indicator goes off, but for my 1000h the red indicator never goes off even though i charge it overnight. So i wouldn't know when the unit is fully charge so that i can off the charger.

My 1000h also makes whirring sound that is audible, most probably it is the ventilation fan. My 701 and 900 is super quiet.

Most probably you'd not notice it, but previous owner of 701 and 900 would notice the difference.

Apart from that, the 1000h is all dandy.

Yeah my Eee PC 901's charging light behaves inconsistently too. Perhaps we should expect a BIOS update?

How big's the hard drive on the 1000H? Just curious, because I paid just under 2k for my Wind, after the upgrade to 2 gigs RAM and 320 gig hard drive.

And has anyone tried installing Vista on a 2 gig MSI Wind? I'm curious after reading that review that said you can get up to 20% longer battery life running Vista on it instead of XP.

1000H hdd is 80GB smile.gif
wouldnt changing the hdd on the msi wind void the warranty? only ram upgrade is allowed AFAIK

vista on 2gb wind should be pretty easy. im running mine on 1000h effortlessly. but battery life should be slightly lower by maybe 10-30 mins instead of higher. but in vista 256MB of shared memory is allowed for the GMA, instead of 128MB on xp
