u mean media forte open the wind up to put those warranty sticker inside???

no thanks.. i think i prefer a virgin wind.. LOL
*

Thing is, there is a warranty sticker on every MSI Wind, which was placed on the factory side. To upgrade your RAM to 2GB, you need to void that sticker, so for Media Forte side, its not considered void warranty for RAM upgrading as long as you dont tamper with the HDD or the wifi.

But on Enlight side, im not sure. All their units comes with unpunctured warranty sticker. So its pretty grey. What happen if you void the warranty sticker to upgrade the RAM, and later when u need to RMA the item, they raise an issue saying that upgrading RAM voids the warranty?

So i guess i rather have an opened Wind, on the distributor side, rather than having troubles later.

Also, its common practice to open notebooks/gadgets and put distributor stickers/warranty stickers before resealing them with original taping given by the brand company. Distributors do that all the time. So by virgin, it usually means untampered by DEALERS, rather than distributors tongue.gif

Wah, not bad but the LCD bezel is too thick now. Still its good that they maintain the keyboard size to the original U100 and re-use the winning form factor. Only the LCD assembly is required, save cost as the main chassis is the same.

Yeah i went for the 1000H instead because of the hinge and the wireless N and the 6 cell battery. Even tho i like the wind's design far better =.=.

Don't forget that most WIFI-N products are based on the Drafted Specifications only. It is not officially ratified. Performance can be unpredictable. With the WIFI-N implementation on the Eee PC, it only has 2 antennas like every other WIFI A/B/G. I would think the WIFI-N included on the Eee PC as a form of future interoperability not performance enhancement.

Yup correct. Draft-n. But it beats spending USD35 to purchase an Intel b/g/n card in the future if i were to go for the MSI.

But the wifi isnt the big deciding factor. Its the hinge actually. And the 6 cell.

Hehe... so now we officially move you over to the eeePC thread rolleyes.gif

I got a MSI Wind U100 for my brother's son and he now complain that the 2 hours battery is not enough for his daily college usage. So IMO I believe you made the right choice.

I think it has turned out to be a joint now. I believe both have pretty interesting advantages. Very good products.

This was supposed to be a thread to help me decide which netbook to get tongue.gif

The 1000H does get abit warm but nothing bad until you're uncomfortable.

Only on the bottom chassis part. The keyboard, handrest and touch pads stays within reasonable limits. Its not warm at all. I found out that browsing LYN using Firefox (not sure about IE) will cause the processor utilization to float around 30-40%. The culprit is due to amount of flash contents on its advertisement area. Using flashblock will solve the problem by preventing these flash contents from playing. Restoring flash playback is as easy as clicking on the particular content.

I believe the graphics driver isn't optimized enough. It should be rendered by the integrated graphics accelerator. I don't know if this is the case with Intel Celeron platforms. Also moving windows around will also cause processor utilization spikes.

Weird. I'll try that out and see whether it gives the same problem in 1000H or not.

Evernew. Bear in mind, that this shop is pretty notorious for its bad customer service. I went ahead with the purchase with that in mind, because i plan to deal direct with Asus for any warranty. My friend who purchased the same unit from them together with me had a faulty adaptor, which he went back to replace and they tried to push him to Lowyat plaza for replacement. He then raised hell and got them to borrom him a black 901 adaptor while his white original adaptor is replaced.
