Hi,forgive me if i post in the wrong place..

I am a Streamyx user, the modem i'm using (supplied by telekom) is broken, and i bought a D-Link DSL-2540T.
And because i'm not a technical computer guy, and this kind of modem (modem + router) is new to me, so i read the installation guide book supplied together with the new modem and go to the website and keyed in some number at the address bar (192.168.1.1) and run the wizard.

The problem is i dont know what else should i set...already set:-
-username
-password
-VPI=0
-VPI=35
-PPPoE/PPPoA...

the manual says if all these information have been set can straight connect to the internet...but i still cant connect... hmm.gif

already check the ipconfig/all...it shown:-

-ip address..................192.168.1.3
-subnet mask...............255.255.255.0
-default gateway..........192.168.1.1
-DNS server................192.168.1.1
-DHCP server..............192.168.1.1

also set my Local Network Connection to:-

-obtain the ip address
-obtain the DNS server address

i thought the router is faulty so i send it back to ASASHI...they also cant do it and they said maybe because they streamyx like got problem and they also have tried 3 new set of this router... hmm.gif

So can anyone here help me?

And also after the wizard, how to i connect to the internet? I used to have a shortcut in the desktop to connect to the internet when using the old telekom modem, do i still need it?

Thanks in advance.

Can you set the DNS information like below in your router and in your TCP/IP settings of your PC system?
Primary DNS: 202.188.0.133
Secondary DNS: 202.188.1.5

If you are using 192.168.1.1 for the DNS paramater, you are just treating your router as a private DNS server and it won't know how to reach the outside domain names on the Internet. Your router will be NAT'ed to its internal domain network (subnet 192.168.1.x) set by the router's DHCP service.

Just in case you miss this, your username should be username@streamyx

If your settings are correct (from what I see),
did you try updating to the latest firmware?
Sometimes this helps.
But make sure you know what you're doing. Proceed at your own risks.

-the vci =35 right?

-is your adsl light on? or blinking

-your username with '@streamyx' behind?

-check your router status if it is showing connected

-chosse never dial in the internet option connection

-try ping 192.168.1.1 and see if you have any reply, if yes

-double click internet explorer to access internet.

Don't need to disable DHCP service if you are using a static IP address because DHCP can discover whether the IP address set in its table is in dynamic IP mode or in static IP mode. But, you must make sure the IP address falls inside the range of the subnet you set in DHCP service.

And the given DNS information is required in the router. It is provided by TM Streamyx.

When setting up DNS of the TCP/IP settings in your PC system (not in your router), you can leave them empty or use Streamyx's DNS IP addresses.

On your PC, default gateway should be 192.168.1.1.
DNS should be 202.188.0.133 and 202.188.1.5 on your PC.

Did you run the 'Set up a home or small office network' from your Windows > Network Connections?

In my router setting, it will like what I have suggested to the TS. And, I have no problem with my settings. Normally, I will force the same DNS settings on my TCP/IP setting on all my clients to be the same like in my router's DNS settings (with Streamyx DNS IP addresses). And, I use PPPoE Routed mode and set a static IP address on every client within the subnet range set in my router's DHCP service.

Yes, the TCP/IP settings are fine now.

Right now, you just need to configure your router at http://192.168.1.1 by using the web browser. It will ask for admin username and password. If you haven't change it, the default username/password will be: admin/admin or admin/password
